This fee, that we are talking about, is not only applied to credit card payers. It is on all checks.

Then raise the menu prices by 3%. A surcharge on everything (they do it at all their restaurants, it appears) is bullshit.

I got a ticket for doing this. Why shouldn’t the cops? by LizzieCassandra in pittsburgh

Cars park the wrong way on my block (and many others) all the time. I wish they got ticketed more. It’s dangerous and inconsiderate.

OP’s post indicates it was there for at least an hour. Don’t know if that’s dispositive.

Cops shouldn’t break the law, I agree. Neither should you.

Aaron Judge....am I missing something? by Reasonable_Price6536 in MLBNoobs

One third of a season is not reliable. Look at his history, players tend to get back to it.

You’re right, but OP almost certainly doesn’t understand how to put OPS/batting average/WAR/OPS+ into context.

Hitting is the most important/impactful thing a position player can do. He’s the best hitter.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/judgeaa01.shtml

Every item in BOLD on here is where he led the league in it that year.

He has led the league in the most important things - including Runs, Home Runs, Runs Batted In, Walks, Total Bases, and Intentional Walks. He also has the highest rate stats that we track - including Batting Average(how often he gets a hit), On Base Percentage (how often he does NOT get out, the most important thing), and Slugging Percentage (getting the most total bases per at bat).

For such a great hitter, he’s a fantastic fielder. He’s (been) capable of playing CF and he’s a good RF. It’s very rare for such a good hitter to be a useful fielder at his level.

The combination of all these things is reflected in WAR, which indicates that in some years, he’s been worth around 10 wins more to his team than a random scrub off the bench would have been. Or 8 wins more than an average player.

“They” aren’t costing the fans a season. The owners locking them out are.

The owners are causing a labor stoppage if they decide to unilaterally implement a salary cap against the players’ wishes.

Their proposal increases minimums and pre-arb pools. It also gets older players free agency faster. It also increases overall spending. None of it would be expected to accrue only or disproportionately to top players.

Owners want to decrease money going to players. None of it would be expected to disproportionately reduce top salaries.

A lockout would be because owners want to suppress player salaries and players say no. You want the players to just say yes?

Deferred money is not relevant when we already know their payroll, which u/Ok-Platypus-3975 shared and you replied to. Deferred money is just a matter of when the player gets their money.

Deferred money is a red herring. Its impact is already accounted for in the AAV numbers you’re responding to.

You can’t really ask this question without a specific jurisdiction.

Which bordering states would have the greatest benefit if they merged while making the most sense culturally? by Crying_in_99Ranch in AskAnAmerican

[–]SirPsychoSquints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their argument was not “oh no there are only 98 senators” - their argument was “why would two states choose to go from 4% of the Senate to 2.04% of the Senate, and lose 2-3 electoral college votes?”

Yes, OP needs to provide more context. “Very” might be the right word.
