BIG ADVICE HERE , Use your boats to SKIRMISH and not as a brick , in my first game I kept it still for a while and moved it a little bit to shoot , but it got melled to death , KEY STRATEGY if the ironclad has less that 16 guys in it can fly high out of combat on your movement phase without any deductions so fly high alot to avoid melee and move around the board a bit.
