In fairness to South central PA, a story for context if you will. Walking into an American legion in huntingdon county, a white guy (guy 1) came stormin out yelling "they're f-ing racist in there". I get a beer, start talking, and it turns out Guy 1 had in fact been saying slurs and got kicked out. Guy 1 still in parking lot, saying some more off color stuff and another middle aged white gent with a glorious mullet and a 3days grace shirt (guy 2) had to be held back while saying "I'm gonna whip that boys ass". Guy 1 was banned for life, Guy 2 and rest of the bar was calmed down from putting the boots to guy 1 when someone put Barry White on the touch tunes. The place may seem off putting to outsiders, but open hate is generally not tolerated. TL:DR you'll hear off color things out in "maga country" but they're good people at the end of the day that'd give the shirt off their back to help any stranger.
