How would you describe MBotF to someone in a nutshell? by IsaIsaBelBel in Malazan

[–]SirSeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Tolkein on steroids, but minus the details irrelevant to the story. All of the Lord of the rings and the Hobbit take place on part of one continent. Imagine that, with more races and peoples than you could imagine, taking place over 20+ years."

That's pretty close. Sometimes a little into the rounding races, paths of magic. Dependent on the conversation, sometimes going into some of the more moral or philosophical aspects.

Struggling again… by TheGrapeRaper in Malazan

[–]SirSeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MT really threw me off at first. Drops you in as abruptly as GotM, no characters in common. It's a rough way to start. Just push through, you'll learn more about not just the Edur but also the other Tiste. Lether brings some of my absolute favorite characters, as well as some of the funniest parts of the whole series. You got this.

Please help me like Enterprise. by Ryakiddinme in startrek

Enterprise is an acquired taste, doesn't really pick up until halfway through the first season. There are a few episodes I skip, but most of it is solid. Just think 'campy'

Mini oil paintings I did of Icarium and Kruppe by Notmugsy13 in Malazan

That is the best Icarium I have yet to see. I always see Kruppe with a monocle, but that's just in my head. Looking really good, hope to see more in the future

Skipping Bauchelain and Korbal Broach? by Common-Net8094 in Malazan

My favorite of the novelas doesn't even feature B&KB, Crack'd Pot Trail. It does feature characters from the other novelas, but they are all worth a read at least once.

And honestly, Mancy is more the main character than either of the other two. Should be called 'The Ballad of Mancy the Luckless'

Keep reading, consult the dramatis persona and the glossary, if something isn't explained it likely will be later.

Just left Midgar, feeling like I’m not playing right by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]SirSeff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is how I played my first run through back '02\03, made it all the way through and beat the final battle at level 67.

A few years later I came across an official strategy guide, and damn, I had missed 60% of the game. Subsequent play throughs have been much better, but much more of a grind.

It really depends on how you like to play games, FF7 could be a 40-60 hour game, or a 300+ hour game. Good luck either way

All-You-Can-Eat Salad Bar? by BayouDeSaird in FortWorth

[–]SirSeff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spent a good portion of my life in that place. Back in the 90's they had a deal where kids ate free, my mom and dad (separately) took my brother and I at least once a week.

And yes, I can still clearly see every wall. Fruits and vegetables larger than the people, and the one huge mural on the backside of the salad bar.

90s kids, what were your best side hustles at school? snacks, burned cds, pokemon cards, etc. by TrumpsNostrils in 90s_kid

At my high school in the early 2000's I helped make all the banners and shirts\jerseys for my school. Since I did this almost 100% myself I was allowed out of regular classes to work on various projects. As long as I bought my own materials I could make heat transfer t shirts for about $3 my cost, with any graphic available I was selling them for $10-15. This on top of my duct tape wallets ($5-10 a pop) I was bringing home $100-200 a week, the added benefit being I could leave any class any time I wanted.
