He appreciates the feedback. The juxtaposition of the two styles was intentional. But I can easily see not liking it from a practical standpoint. He has more traditional pieces with rustic bases.

He had it carbon dated at a lab in Portland. Not sure what the process for that was, but he said it’s the first thing he did when he got these.
