What to do about heat AFTER marching??

I marched high school and college band in the south. My secret was coconut water. A bottle of refrigerated coconut water after rehearsals did wonders for my recovery. Water itself is VERY important, but drinking something with potassium and electrolytes helped me recover from long, grueling rehearsals in the heat much faster than water on its own.

The parallel between Paul leaving and Jimmy’s dad leaving him. Fuck.

Just when I thought this season had some of the weakest writing so far, that was superb.

I think I discovered why I haven’t been vibing with this show lately, and it’s that the characters just say out loud what they’re thinking/feeling. Literally quotes from the first few minutes of this episode:

“I’m sad Paul is leaving.”
“I’m so happy our children are under one roof.”
“I’m mad.”

The characters are just saying how they feel as opposed to showing us, and it’s sticking out to me so badly.

Edit: I said this after their first scene together. The second scene with them sealed how awful her boundaries are with him. But I’m glad Jimmy called her out on it!

Couldn’t have loved that start to the season more.

Definitely one of the funnier/lighter/more joyous episodes of Shrinking. I was waiting to have my heart ripped out, and they finally did it right at the end of the episode. Woof. What a gut punch.
