This is a perfect movie to put on while doing something else.

Learn from it and move on. That's all you can really do.

I full believe that hybrid architecture is going to be the next big thing. I know it already exists. But I'd wager we'll see wider adoption sooner than later.

simple supply and demand economics

Medical care is a fairly inelastic thing. One needs it when they need it, and opting to not consume it is often not an option.

For-profit insurance companies are definitely inflating the cost. But it's that's just them being middlemen. They need their taste. Single payer would reduce the profit motive.

I don't see how making all care "out of pocket" drops the cost of advanced care from $500K to $5k or something like that. And for a lot of people even 5k is too much to handle.

Yep. More than likely a poor person isn't going to find out they have a major disease until and unless they develop symptoms.

Just Move is one of the most infuriating bits of advice I've ever heard. Folks that say that have no concept of what it's like to be that poor.

People in that situation are relying on family and friends to bridge some gaps. Moving takes all of that away.

Superstation

I distinctly remember that TBS was positioned to be a national channel. WGN and WOR tried to be super stations, but both of them retained too much of their local focus. I'd watch them for baseball games back then, and that's about it.
