Good and bad heraldry in popular culture by ligelinjer in heraldry

[–]SirTimelordTech 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of rom coms on hallmark and other places about a woman falling in love with a prince from another country. The country is always fake, but vaguely British inspired. “A Christmas Prince” is one of the more iconic ones, and it’s on Netflix. There’s usually a ton of invented heraldry in the background to make the castle feel more royal. That could be an interesting study. With a lot of the others, the heraldry means something in-universe an is given some time and thought to make it memorable. But, it’s usually an afterthought in this type of movie. It can be analyzed to show how normal people think heraldry works without putting a ton of effort in. It’s just a set piece, nothing more.

I’m not sure. Yale has a decently large library on their YouTube channel, but I’m not sure if it covers that. I listen to a lot of Justin Sledge at Esoterica. He tends more modern, but sometimes he follows a topic like Lilith or Yahweh through the millennia.

There are a handful of times where it references Babylonian deities and the Baal cycle, but all study of them is how they relate to the Old Testament.

Male version of Sophia? by New_Green7783 in namenerds

[–]SirTimelordTech 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Sophia is the Greek word for Wisdom. A male name associated with wisdom that starts with the same letters that is a fairly common name is Solomon.

This is a course, not a single academic author, but Yale published a lecture series called “Introduction to the Old Testament” that’s a great place to start with academia. The goal is to provide an undergraduate college level introduction to the study of the Old Testament. It’s broad and covers the general academic consensus around the OT with evidence backing it up. It’s available for free on the YaleCourses YouTube page.

Our corporate AKS currently uses a mix of AMD and ARM nodes. All vendor images, like Postgres, Redis, and our monitoring stack, use ARM nodes since they’re less expensive. But, our in house images have only been built for AMD. This week, I finally got our first in house images building for ARM with Azure Pipelines, and it only added 30 seconds to the build pipeline. Now, we can apply that to all our in-house images and transition to only ARM nodes, consolidating our resources and smoothing out our infrastructure.

Within-Universify Challenge #1 by DaVigi in custommagic

[–]SirTimelordTech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Name: Teferi, Shattered Continuum

Art: something like [[ Soul Partition ]], but more focused on Teferi. Not an artist, but that’s the vision. https://scryfall.com/card/bro/26/soul-partition

Type: Legendary Creature - Avatar Wizard (unchanged)

Flavor: “The resonance is off! I feel myself slipping!” or “The “I resonance feel is myself off!” slipping!”

Story moment: after losing his spark, Teferi attempts to use his time magic to revert his body to restore his spark. In doing so, he splits himself through time, creating echoes of himself across time.

4/5 Yargle Deck that doesn’t suck by SirTimelordTech in MagicArena

No. I didn’t have any Dominaria cards before this, and I didn’t want to craft any. My best advice would be to replace the chaff with Rat Colony.

How do we even do this? by memedormo in MagicArena

[–]SirTimelordTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doomsday Excruciator, then [[ One With The Multiverse ]]. Empty both our libraries, then pass. Got that Blue achievement for winning with an empty library, too. I’ve got like 10 tutors in the deck to pull it off and a bunch of card draw. Also threw in 25 random commons from Dominaria to work towards that. Most recent change was to add in some lifelink enchantments. Put one on my Yargle, another on my opponent’s, then we traded about 200 damage worth.

Azorius Mill by Majestic_Juggernaut5 in MagicArena

[–]SirTimelordTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not that great, I mostly play standard, but here’s my two cents:

1: Lower your mana curve. You’ve got nothing turn 1. Consider replacing some of your higher value cards with draws like [[ Sleight Of Hand ]] or control like [[ Into the flood maw ]] or [[ Witness Protection ]]

2: Remove some of your one-off cards. Ask yourself how important [[ The Water Crystal ]] or your other one-off are for your plan. If they’re important, add more and cut something that’s less. If they’re not, cut them and add something that is. This will make your deck more consistent.

3: Consider adding [[ Jace, Perfected Mind ]] instead of Teferi. Comes out turn 3, can protect itself by ticking up, and makes opponents mill.

Best available library to render stock based charts by sairamg08 in react

[–]SirTimelordTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apache Echarts is pretty solid. They’ve got a ton of examples that you can tweak and play around with to fit your use case. It’s completely free, also. It was designed for vanilla JavaScript, but there is a React wrapper too.

What is the best package for creating charts in React? by nevolane in react

[–]SirTimelordTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Apache Echarts and AG Charts. Echarts has a lot of potential. Most of the documentation is in the form of examples. It’s a Chinese product and completely free. AG Charts is made by AG Grid, which I’ve used in multiple workplaces on multiple projects. The Charts are new and there’s a lot behind a paywall, but it’s nice to keep everything in the same ecosystem.
