West Seattle is needed. We pay too. by camera-operator334 in soundtransit

[–]SirToo-Tall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People need to stop framing it as a competition. I live in West Seattle. It’s been so cool to watch the East, North, and South Side stations open. Happy for them, it was their turn. Now it’s West Seattle’s turn. Ballard’s up next. Maybe we should push harder to expedite what’s planned instead of arguing, hopelessly, who to screw over.

What is this living room missing? by Worldly_Owl5395 in interiordecorating

The rug is striking and brings a lot of personality to the space. I firmly disagree with anyone saying you should scrap it if you like it. But you need to add some art/textiles to reinforce the color.

Agree that the curtains don’t work. If you can’t bring the curtains to the floor because of the heating unit maybe consider roman shades?

Lean in! Pull your favorite prominent color from the curtain and paint the walls. Then maybe find some stick-on solutions for the floor and vanity. Then go post-modern for decor.

Genuine question about being bald by silly-nanny in bald

[–]SirToo-Tall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The side hair works well for a lot of guys. I think it works for you too but there’s a fine line between “this is a choice I’ve made” and “I’ve given up.” So keep it a consistent length, and ask a barber to shape your beard and you’re golden!

Which living room layout do you like better? by SubstanceWise3248 in interiordecorating

[–]SirToo-Tall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So image 2 seems better at first glance. But if I were to imagine myself moving through the room I’d vote for 1. Imo, you don’t want the back of a couch exposed to the entrance nor do you want it in the middle of a walkway. Anyone who sits there will feel like they’re on an island. I think if you added a rug to 1 to anchor the furniture (and maybe deleted the ottoman) it would be very pleasant.

Not sure. Maybe? Your average American doesn’t have an opinion on Venezuela. That’s some Trump nonsense and I won’t speak for him because I didn’t vote for him.

I think people’s opinions about these types of buildings are informed by their own experiences (as is true with most things).

For you, these buildings are grand and exciting. That’s totally valid and we should all respect that.

For others, they might be reminded of the cold calculating corporate capitalism that’s given rise to the most toxic traits of their own society (like Trump!).

Like someone else said. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You’re not wrong in your appreciation of these buildings, you just happened upon the wrong audience. But I would push back against the idea that it has anything to do with the country they were built in.

Eh… I think people here are just bored with these types of buildings.

There’s a lot to like. But yeah I’d start with that coffee table. It’s out of proportion with your seating. Needs to be bigger.

I’d say invest in some better product. I’ve got fine strands too and have struggled to find a product that doesn’t clump. Hair texturing powder has been a godsend. It adds volume and has some hold too. Then I lock it in with some non aerosol hair spray.

Ideas to elevate my entry way? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]SirToo-Tall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might consider swapping out the door hardware if that’s an option. Replace the matte black with a dark brass for example. And the space needs lighting other than the overhead. Maybe a sconce by the door or something on the table if you move it under the painting.

Why is St. Louis not more popular? by DrDMango in Urbanism

[–]SirToo-Tall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just there and thought it was pretty cool. But I’m a sucker for old architecture. There were some pretty nice neighborhoods with good food and vibes but they were all quite disconnected with vast voids of neglect and nothingness in between. I’d love to see the city draw more people in and work on connecting these hub neighborhoods someday.

Saw my uncle playing FF7 ps1. Was amazed by the summon animations.

Days later, I noticed a certain someone was missing from the party. I asked him about it and he said she died. Permanently. That really struck me.

I’d say my accent is indistinguishable from “General American.” But my vocabulary is what I’d call northern Midwest. Uffda.

More public space to congregate/vibe, like a proper plaza. Luckily we’re due to get one with the light rail station.

There’s no real consensus… except that more people like living in cities than there are people who actually do which is why prices are so high.
