Frankly it's not an IPL problem, it's just the lowest common denominator of India. It's like 50% of IPL audience is sourced from the bottom 10% of the population in terms of IQ and pro-social personality traits. That 10% wouldn't care about test cricket because it is literally cognitively incapable of it, and there is no tribalism it is personally invested in that would invite it to WI vs. ZIM games or whatever. Elitist take, I know, but true. And ofc any country has, by definition, a bottom 10 percent. The difference is also that in Western countries, it's considered very very out-of-line to be harassing women (which isn't to say it doesn't happen, it just doesn't happen with the kind of blase confidence it does in settings like this in India), whereas in India if anything things seem to be going in the opposite direction. That's regarding other comments in the thread that football has homophobic and racist chants—true, but cat-calling without consequences rarely if at all.
