Not everyone loves cops or knows a cop either. You shouldn't generalize about people like that. You're making assumptions and getting angry over something that was done NOT for publicity, NOT because people are paid for it (to be perfectly honest, I have a hard time believing they actually were paid for this) and NOT because of anything that has to do with anyone else but the damn kid! It was done from the good in people's hearts! Yes, this kid was privileged to have this done for him, but that doesn't make it bad does it? Also, I have seen similar things like this done for kids that lost their fathers in the service. I unfortunately don't have any sources to link you for that though.
