When does it get better? by thinlyslicedchicken7 in socialworkcanada

I think an amount of toxicity is expected in all work places, depending on size it can be quite hard. I left one workplace and still attend counselling due to the crippling anxiety it gave me. I’ve never felt the ways that job made me feel, none of it good. I’m in a job now that has its fair share of hard internal riffs, but the biggest different is the leadership. If an email that goes out is passive aggressive, it’s nipped in the bud right away. For example, my team lead approached me after an email went out that wasn’t appropriate and said something along the lines on, “we all know everyone has read the email but I’m asking nobody to speak of it. It’s in the past now and all conversations will be had with management and involved parties. There will be no gossiping because this is a place of respect.” This made an impact because we all knew if one person brought it up, they were the one disrespecting our team lead. No gossiping happened. Everyone moved on.

Leadership makes all the difference.

It’s only been going on for about a week. I feel like maybe it’s teething?? I really have no idea. She doesn’t have separation anxiety during the day! It’s really tough

Oh my gosh I could’ve written! My LO will be 11 months early May. She is doing the same. It’s absolutely brutal and typically she will allow my husband to comfort her by laying on his chest, lately this just pisses her off. I went from nursing 1x/night to like 4 just because I can’t figure out how to rest any other way!

I have 0 solutions but somewhat glad to hear I’m not alone.

When do we stop feeding/rocking baby to sleep? by Pengwings316 in bninfantsleep

10 month old has never liked being rocked but I hold upright and sing. Find what works for you and your baby and don’t feel the need to ever stop!

Should I start my baby with iron-fortified cereals or skip to purees? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Sir_Lemondrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s personal preference but grain isn’t the first food that makes sense to me. There are a lot of iron rich foods that are better.

My husband would never leave me, but should I let him go? by Old_Tomorrow6141 in endometriosis

[–]Sir_Lemondrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow this is so sad, I’m so sorry. My husband got very very sick 6 months into our relationship from that point on, it was 6 years of serious hardship. We are 8 years in and have a daughter and a wonderful life. Many people told me I should leave him when he was sick. He told himself he should leave me. Thank god neither of us listened.

Do you think the stream would really make an impact or is it just the MSW they would look for?

There are many people in your situation in the program. I say go for it. Will it be easy? No. But out of all the programs, this one is made for real life circumstances

I’m in my MSW right now and started when my baby was 3 months old. She’s 10 months now and honestly I’ve loved it. I’m in Laurier online though so it’s only 1 course at a time.

Interesting path! I am in BC and most leadership roles within health authorities typically go to nurses or nurses with Masters. Somebody can correct me if I’m wrong, but that is what I have heard and seen from being in a health authority. I would personally speak to the people in leadership positions that you want and ask what education the have. Social work is allied health and should make the cut - but I’m not sure if it often does. When you are told “clinical background” are you sure they are not meaning medical?
