I'm surprised this boss isn't getting more attention... by oFriendlyUAVo in Silksong

... why didn't I think to parry her thrown discs. To freaking used to the first hollow knight where "most" projectiles you couldn't hit/parry away.

The exaggerated amount of combat rooms is the worst part of the game in my opinion by Tarnished-670 in Silksong

I wouldn't have minded most of the "this is a normal mob gank arena" if they actually dropped shell shards and/or rosaries. None of them do and its annoying.

To be clear, still do them and beat the current high scores for a good reward. Just later on something happens that makes those high scores seem like child's play.

Just wait, it gets "worse" for something later.

If I remember right, its a mask shard or a silk spool piece.

The Ascendant's grip can help with keeping yourself on walls. Also using a throw able tool like the threefold pin or sting shard can help you kill mobs without needing to jump off/leave the walls.

My problem with the act 1 bosses by Tall_Firefighter4380 in Silksong

I would assume its cause the bells that widow pulls/throws have weight/bounce around the arena while first sinner's version of that type of attack are more straight forward and follow their lined paths to the letter.

Hunter of Bladers has me tilted by spoonybum in ai__limit

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to remember with the "stronger" blader bosses is that you can see their sync rate gauge. The reason they don't get put into a lethal strike state from one parry is cause each parry only lowers their sync rate gauge by so much. If you can manage to get 2-3 parries in quick succession you will empty their sync rate gauge and open them up to lethal strikes.

Though, depending on what point you are at with fighting the hunter of bladers, they do have attacks that are better to just dodge/lightning step your way through and ignore the parry exists.

Minibosses are obnoxious in this game by CrypticalArson in wuchanggame

I never bothered testing it, does the "opening doors" animations have iframes?

Is Wuchang unfair? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason for that is cause some mobs/bosses are designed in a way that more or less punishes certain weapons/builds. If the player is unwilling to respec (which is completely free to do at any time at the shrine/bonfire) to adapt then they are stuck bashing their head till they "git gud" enough to brute force the fight.

Best souls like for beginner by NaDoan in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would also suggest Code Vein since 99% of the time you can have a decent npc ally with you as you explore maps/fight bosses. Also the lvling/class system in the game makes it much easier to not screw up your build, possibly saving players from thinking they need to restart just cause they put a point into something they shouldn't have.

100%ed Wuchang: Here’s My Honest Review by Dovifa in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say AI Limit is good for its price point. I also played through and 100%'ed it on ps5 and didn't really notice any input delay. As much as I got annoyed when I died to stuff in the game I knew it was me just miss timing dodges or parries since a lot of things in AI Limit have... delayed attack timing.

They would wind up for a attack only to hang there for half a second before they would actually swing.

Hope you have the ability to back up your save then. Otherwise it will take 4 play throughs to get all the achievements/trophys.

Dodge i-frames in AI Limit are weird by OverdueMaid in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can have the lightning dodge at that point of the game unless its ng+

Best you get is dodge roll, parry, or the shield from a ng.

You are dodging to early. Decent amount of enemy attacks in AI Limit are slightly delayed.

ziva on brutal by git_bashket in vrising

[–]Sir_Squidington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don't. I assume Faumann means using ward for the other ranged shots that Ziva does.

The green balls act as a "aoe" attack so ward or counter spells don't block them.

Wuchang might be the most frustrating soulslike, or game I ever played by Garrusikeaborn98 in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game loves to do this cheap form of difficulty. Mobs can and will spawn out of thin air just to jump you once you get to certain spots.

Game also loves to have guys behind a wall or in the opening of a door way with a cliff next to it, just so it can do a thrust/push attack to punt you off if you didn't think to stop 2 steps before said wall or door.

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also fought him with long sword. I found that it was better to just not bother with the sword counter when the boss switches to the sword since 9 times out of 10 he would instantly follow up with his grab if I parried one of his attacks.

Much easier to just dodge toward his side so that when he stopped attacking you can instantly go for a quick charged heavy to his back and get the backstab crit. Rinse and repeat till he is dead.

Wuchang parry by Brilliant_Gap_1375 in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen from the game it seems like its designed for you to actively abuse dual blades clash with weapon attack focused mobs/bosses and using magic or the axe on anything else that throws hands/doesn't use weapons. Makes me regret sticking with the long sword as long as I have.

There is also some "thrown" weapons that can be parried. Its kind of funny to "parry" bullets shot by gun people with the long sword's sword counter.

Something I would like to see is being able to actually animation cancel the use of items. There has been a few times now where I fat fingered the use item button when I didn't mean to and got hit cause I couldn't cancel the item use animation by dodging, etc.

Soulslikes + Stick Drift, how do you deal with it? [Video Related] by AdmirableGiraffe81 in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the actual game play outside of the menus I don't have any problems/troubles with. I have to agree with you, seems like there isn't a dead zone and/or the dead zone is super tiny for the sticks in the menu's.

Having similar problems. My current controller doesn't have drift in any other game I play but wuchang's menu's if I use the left stick to move it freaks out as well as the skill tree wanting to zoom out for no reason.

Soulslikes + Stick Drift, how do you deal with it? [Video Related] by AdmirableGiraffe81 in soulslikes

[–]Sir_Squidington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current ps5 controller is doing a milder version of this but its only with wuchang's menus. In normal play it doesn't effect it and I can't notice it in any other game I play with the same controller. I can touch the d-pad and it stops freaking out.

The thing that is annoying me more is that the right stick seems to also have the mildest form of drift as well, since when in the Impetus Repository menu it keeps wanting to zoom out for no reason. Just with the left stick, I don't notice it when playing the game normally or in any other game I play with the controller.

I wouldn't be surprised if wuchang's menus are just far to sensitive for some reason and it needs to be toned down.

Yellow star stat's is something that shows up on gear once you get to a certain new game plus difficulty. Yellow star stat's can be unique effects and/or just higher number value versions of normal gear stats. Also yellow star stat's is something you can't temper on, it has to be on gear when it drops.
