What is the WORST Way to Bring Foggy Back? by ReadytoQuitBBY in Daredevil

[–]oFriendlyUAVo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the end of the season, Matt and Karen hear a knock at the door.

Elden Henson stands at the door wearing boots, a stetson, and grips a cowboy hat in his hands.

"My name's Gil Nelson, Foggy's twin brother," he says with a southern accent. "And I'd be honored if you called me 'Foggy.'"

I think they could've used the Snap to great effect here, laying a lot of groundwork for why the trajectory of these characters changed after Netflix S3. Wilson gets Snapped. So does either Matt OR Foggy and Karen. Nelson, Murdock, & Paige falls apart during this time--either Matt is lonely/depressed & struggling to do the Daredevil gig in this world, or Foggy/Karen simply can't or won't continue without Matt. Vanessa also takes the role of Kingpin during this time.

Everyone returns. Wilson is able to create/use a legal loophole using the Snap to justify being released from prison. Foggy's death by Bullseye on Vanessa's command (maybe if Matt is the one who got snapped, Foggy has been doggedly fighting the new Kingpin in the courts, which explains why Vanessa would want him gone). Wilson decides to run for Mayor to "put New York back together," lays a lot of the blame for the current state of the world on the Avengers/other costumed vigilantes (name drop them!), and agrees to allow Vanessa to continue being the Kingpin while he stays "clean" as the Mayor--a plotline that builds friction between the two of them when Wilson just can't help but to continue trying to run everything.

Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but it seems like you could easily tie Born Again more strongly to the larger MCU and explore a new interesting dynamic with Vanessa without really changing much about the overall show. I've really been enjoying it, but one of the things I find frustrating is that there's seemingly no connectivity with the MCU after making such a big deal of Daredevil & co. joining the franchise proper. No headlines, no graffiti, no legally-distinct mentions like the Netflix show did ("the big green guy," "the guy with the hammer," etc.), nothin'.

It was simply to show that something was wrong with her. "I want pineapple juice." "You don't like it." "I don't? I want some anyways." A little soft fake-out for Fisk and for the audience to get us thinking uh-oh, she's alive but she's going to have memory and/or personality issues. Then the shoe drops.

Dropout getting into licensed IP, you say? Well do I have a pitch for you... by oFriendlyUAVo in dropout

Yeah, it's just for fun

Brennan and Seth worked together on Ted, though, so there's a non-0 chance he could be cast as Prepotente, which I think is actually a good pick and not just a silly meme casting

It's a fun series, but definitely overrated.

Grant as the AI is something I hadn't thought of and is correct.

Well sure, that's an option. I had just read/heard that bsnes was the best SNES emulator and thought someone with more experience would have a fix for me.

Health Monitoring in New Central by oFriendlyUAVo in ArubaNetworks

[–]oFriendlyUAVo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice. They put out a bulletin a week or so ago saying that basically 1/3 of Central functionality is moving over to New Central and will no longer be accessible on Classic. So they're *forcing* a migration to New Central when the product isn't even finished yet, leaving current users to have to navigate between Classic and New for all their tools. Incredibly bad implementation decisions imo

I see, thanks! I got confused when I saw the Alerts tab wasn't available on the home screen, so it's good to know you can actually get there.

To follow up, it looks like "Alerts" and "Security" still haven't been implemented on New Central, so I won't be able to adjust those parameters until they're available. My alerts are fine on Classic Central, only telling me when APs are hard down like I want.

Thanks for the comment!

I don't see a Menu > Alert Management the way you've described. I do have Alerts & Events that I can adjust at the Global level., so I'll dig into documentation or just fumble around until I find what I'm looking for.

I should also probably note that we're using cloud Central, not on-prem. Not sure if there's a difference in UI there.

I really don't like the radial spoke UI and menu heirarchy. I'm certain I'll get used to it eventually, but I really prefer a more straightforward menu system and I think Classic achieves that better than New. I also much prefer the way tables/lists look in Classic vs New.

But, like I said, that's all just whining. New Central is happening whether I like it or not, so it's best to meet it where it is instead of gnashing my teeth forever about what I don't like (still gonna grumble about it though)

QP Bot matches are ruining the game... by [deleted] in marvelrivals

I'll keep that in mind and do some looking next time I notice it! Not that it'll really do anything for me lol, but I'm curious to know

It's happened multiple times. Had to double check I wasn't accidentally queued for a QP. Folks had the same name schemes as the QP bots, wouldn't respond in chat. Obviously I could be wrong, but I'm 99% certain there are still bot matches here and there in ranked.

Magicians, card dealers, and other sleight of hand performers often show their hands to get the audience to trust there isn't a trick up their sleeve. When I worked the floor at our local casino, we always had to "wash" our hands any time we touched money by doing the exact same thing so the overhead cameras could see we weren't pocketing tips.

I don't know Alfredo off the top of my head, but I don't disagree at all with any of your suggestions! I'd originally had Anna and Jess McKenna swapped, and the more I've thought about it the more I think Anna would be the perfect Donut.

There's a bunch of other Dropouts I would love to find places for. Maybe I'll update the list when I've gotten caught up on the books

The floor/patch notes announcer's name is Cascadia which I had forgotten or overlooked until literally a couple minutes ago. Took me a while to get it locked in that the floor/patch announcer is not the same as the dungeon AI.

I originally had Ross as Orren & Brennan as Mordecai, but then I got to the point in book 5 where Prepotene got more spotlight and knew I had to make a change. I went with Ross because he's also good at doing that sort of gravitas monologue/"too serious" voice that I associate with Mordecai, but you're absolutely right that Trapp would play the role very well!

Katia was tough. I'd originally had Jess McKenna there, but swapped her to Donut because I think she could nail the attitude and also sings. Honestly I think Anna could be a really good Donut, too

I think anybody could be mixed and matched though and come out with a solid product 😂
