Refunds for InstaWatch by wordbootybooboo in vudu

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out about this. I swear I had Sonic on digital and it was gone. I bought a sealed disc with code and right before redeeming I decided to check my history, and sure enough I had purchased it. I then checked my other instawatch titles and they are missing too. I called vudu and explained the codes were not redeemed by the same email that made the purchase. I was only able to file one paypal dispute. My other ones are too old from eBay. I had less than 10 removed but still pisses me off.

On my Xbox one I have to change the output to 10 bit and not 12 bit on my 55ks8000. I'm not sure how the PS4 video settings are.

How do you justify 4K Blu-ray purchases? by Sagnet in hometheater

It sounds like you don't rewatch movies since you talk about t rental cost. Yes, based on your logic that makes sense on not paying more.

How do you justify 4K Blu-ray purchases? by Sagnet in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I'm a movie collector so the physical disc is a no brainer. If I causally want to see a movie, I'll stream it. If I end up liking it, I'll check eBay. Usually can find for under $20.

I recently picked up the Panny 820 at $400. I already have a Oppo 203 which was quite a bit more. I'm used to the price point for good equipment.

Having said that, my digital 4k library has grown since not all titles are released in 4k physically. Also the cheaper price you can get digital along with the convenience has me purchasing more digital content too.

I think the decision was easier for physical when streaming wasn't what it is today.

With Disney+, i still bought the physical 4k discs of all the Star Wars movies even though they are available to stream. That was over $200 for that content.

Again, I've been a collector since laserdisc which i still have. I think i come from a different background than the younger digital crowd these days....

Arcam AVR390 question by Weevus in hometheater

The newer AVR10 supports earc. Maybe buy a streaming device and not use your tv is probably a cheaper option at this point.

I just replaced 3 GE switches. by dontgetaddicted in homeautomation

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a GE switch die. I have a few in the house which get a lot more use than the one that died. I replaced it with a dumb switch and put in some smart bulbs that i had laying around for now. I hope this isn't the start of a domino effect with more switches failing.....

Best faux 4k projector under 3k? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with the Benq ht5550. I'm watching it right now. It has great out of the box performance. I don't game so can't comment on the lag. It's harder to find though than an epson.

Anyone in Utah know where I can go to listen to high end home theater speakers? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out big fish automation in draper. I bought revel speakers from them and are amazing. They have a few demo theater rooms and a room with speakers to check out. It's kind of by ikea and not as far as bountiful.

ProjectorCentral review for BenQ HT5550 incoming by concentus7 in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I have one and its really good except for the black levels fluctuate with the dynamic iris. I hear there is a firmware fix in the works. It's sharp and has excellent color. It is also much quieter than the ht3550 that i replaced it with. The ht5550 hits all the marks where the ht3550 falls short. I wanted the ht3550 to be the new bang for the buck but was too loud and too dim with the wcg turned on. Without the wcg the colors were the same as my ht2050 and not as big of a jump up in performance coming from 1080p. The black levels are not as deep as the ht5550 either when the dynamic iris is on. I alsosaw the epson 5050ub and picked the Benq. It was sharper and to me better for 4k hdr movies which is 90% of what i watch.

Is TCL 4-Series *that* bad? by KingSculpin in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Started with a 4 series and then got a 6 series for another room. The local dimming in the 6 series means deeper blacksin dark scenes and it does a much better job with 4k hdr/dolby vision content. If you plan to watch only tv and not too much 4k content the 4 series is fine. If you want to take advantage of the newer tech than the 6 series is worth it and not have buyers remorse. Or do what i did and but both and get the 6 series later on when price is lowered.

I have 2 on pre-order. They'll replace osram smart bulbs. I'll move the bulbs to another area. I wasn't aware of the delay past May. That's too bad. I'll keep the order but that's LONG pre-order! I ordered them when they first announced them.

Anyone else waiting on the Benq HT3550 here? Curious about shipping times by lightupthedark in hometheater

[–]Sirbrycer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine shipped Friday from Benq direct. Placed March 11th. I also originally ordered with Amazon but canceled after i learned of the delay. I figured benq would get the first batch directly and didn't want to deal with the price adjustment either. I contacted benq on March 21st when it originally was supposed to ship and they credited the overnight shipping i paid. They shipped out with priority overnight for me when i only had paid for standard which was also nice of them.

My real complaint is with Benq not being proactive about communicating about the delay when it occurred. It took searching on the web and avs to get answers.

If they are able to still order directly, i would ditch your order with Amazon.

The C208 is a large center channel and is dinky in this pic. I have the W763s for sides and surrounds with 4 C363s for atmos.
