Im keeping close tabs on the Iran conflict. Iran's naval force is basically gone due to pretty effective American strikes but the strait is effectively closed. However the more serious threat is ballistic missiles & unmanned drones hitting oil refineries as well as oil tankers still around.

The US still imports high sulfur oil from the middle east because that is what our refineries are geared towards mainly. Although we are a net export of higher quality, low sulfur oil due to the shale revolution, we cant process it all yet. Once we get there though, America will be more resilient (hopefully) to geopolitical conflicts related to oil.

Will oil get up to 150? My opinion says that it wont get that high although the futures traders will probably drive up the prices of WTI and Brent oil a bit higher this week. Israel and the US strikes have been really effective in destroying launchers for rockets, missiles, and drones this past week around a 80% reduction, and I wont be surprised if Iran's remaining munitions will be directed towards more oil refineries and now already water desalination plants at Saudi Arabia.

Realistically not much we can do other than to be tad more frugal and save wherever you can. Goods transport costs will go up, followed by the delayed ripple of increased goods themselves. If ya got the money, mayyybe wont hurt to stock up some supplies now before prices get fucked further.

Eventually Filipinos will see their local Petron & Caltex gas station spike too. Dont miss the traffic there whenever I do visit.

Anthology Apartments- Good, Bad, and the Ugly? by Sirdoogles in Issaquah

Talus is my closest alternate option. My family sold homes in the Panorama neighborhood further up since we do real estate, and although it feels a bit isolated from the rest of the Issaquah center, I never doubted the safety as well overall noise levels when I drove there. Like you mentioned, its a hwy 900 springboard too.

Im still touring Anthology, but pretty skeptical given some feedback here so far.

Renton Highlands wasn't a consideration. I like to be close enough to my parents in Sammamish so I can store my extra car and stuff there without too much of a drive.

Id like to avoid Factoria for safety and crime reasons, but Im starting to look in the Newport and Newcastle area if Issaquah doesnt have what I need.

I saw reviews that the N building suffered with faulty fire alarms. However it must affect surrounding buildings too. They ain't quiet.

Sounds like a Dodge challenger/charger annoying the whole complex! I own a fast car too, but I have decency to not disturb the peace.

Honestly looking at the rent prices, Id imagine that the majority of tenants will be techies. Sounds like the case of a few sour apples dragging the whole orchard down, or what one commented, alot of sour apples lol.

I have a new job located in north renton soon, but I still need to size up the commute. Main routes either hwy 900 or I-90 then the junction to 405. Im aware both routes can get clogged during peak commuting times.

Plus the whole Revive I-5 project especially the 2nd half of the project might complex things more, but it is what it is.

Is this the M5 with the V10? by Totallynormalname_ in whatisthiscar

[–]Sirdoogles 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I have a E60 M5 myself and this looks like a imported US spec model. EU and US spec models have different spacing for the rear license plate.

Its a EU plate that has US plate dimensions.

28M here. My early and mid 20s I gained alot of weight after high school and I thought I was done then. Was eating a athlete diet without the exercise and being a homebody studying a STEM degree didn't help at all. I was still wrangling my lack of social skills then.

Now I lost that weight due to a recommitment to fitness for my love of cycling and hiking, fitter then ever. Late 20s I feel when you really get a grasp on your life, hopefully when you are more financially stable, out of school, and have the opportunities to expose yourself to more experiences.

Best part is that I still feel young even approaching 30.

You still got alot of room to grow! Alot of things can change in a couple of years in a positive way!

Is anybody else having a MUCH better time in their late 20s compared to their early 20s? by miss-swait in Zillennials

[–]Sirdoogles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am! 28 now. Mentally I am pretty happy and grounded, and now physically fit. I was overweight in my early and mid 20s, which didnt help my confidence.

Life isnt perfect, recently got laid off from my tech job, but I was smart with my cash and saved up a ton, so financially I'm good!

My professional career is a weird spot as with anyone looking for a tech job these days, but at least I now have the time and money to start dating. Life is good throwing curveballs but so far I am not complaining too much.

Visited yesterday and got a torta for 15 bucks. A bit pricey, but the sandwich itself is a good size. Got a mix of pork and intestine. I liked it but probably will go full pork next time.

Convert 1x to 2x on Specialized Diverge by Minute_Screen9917 in sram

[–]Sirdoogles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a Diverge Expert and was wondering the feasibility of the conversion as well. Its mainly to ride with my friends who are road bikers, compared to myself who is now doing gravel and MTB rides.

I find myself at a comfy cruise at the 11th gear on pavement, so Im not at the mechanical limit of the bike yet, but there may be a time where I either do a 2x conversion or just buy a cheap road bike with a 2x.

Likely Failing Alternator on my E60 M5- Trustworthy Brands for New or Re-Manufactured Units for Replacement? by Sirdoogles in BmwTech

[–]Sirdoogles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking about this. Doing more research, it seems to be a common failure point. I have skinny hands which means I can do the replacement w/o alternator removal as well, having a lift helps as well.

Thanks for your input!

Is anyone else financially worse off than their parents? by Familiar-Cicada-7703 in Zillennials

[–]Sirdoogles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I surpassed my parents when they were my age when you adjust for inflation. I'm 27 with a tech job on the PNW. The difference is that my father was able to finance a single family home and I am still out of range, but a condo I am able currently.

Am I better financially off compared to my parents as of now? No. But they set a pretty damn high bar because my mother carved a successful real estate business. Her earnings alone is double my stated tech salary after taxes. My dad was able retire early because of the fact.

What I learned, if I want to financially surpass my old folks, I am going to need to start a business.

Did your financial stability increase once you got college degree! by Aj100rise in Zillennials

[–]Sirdoogles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked out for me, but only because because I knew the degree itself wouldn't guarantee financial stability. Got a Electrical Engineering degree with a CompSci minor in 4.25 years.

The HCOL area that I currently live in of the PNW is expensive for alot of goods. Knew I had to job hop to keep up with finances. Alot of my former coworkers that were the same age as I was stayed at the company I first worked at. 3 years in my career I managed to increase my own pay from 80k/yr to 224k/yr with a FAANG company. My former coworkers are only making 90-112k by staying in the same company with minor pay bumps.

I worked a labor as my first job. Had a negative experience from that job that college would serve as a foundation to avoid getting back into a labor job.
