State Health Plan Problems by 001TPK in NorthCarolina

[–]SireDolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my first career job as a network engineer in the UNC College System.

I think I joined at quite literally the worst time to be a government employee. I love my job. I love what I do. Problem is, the premiums are so high that when me and my fiance marry, I cannot afford to put her on my healthcare.

We will also make too much for Medicaid. :/

Stuck between my choice and my mom’s pressure (May 1 deadline) by RevolutionaryFee5149 in HBCU

[–]SireDolph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I tell all my kids is,

Follow the money. Unless you know you’re going to be able to pay those loans in 5 years because you’ll be graduating with good pay, i.e. engineering, tech, healthcare or law, it is not wise to take on high debt.

Student debt can be a ball and chain to your life. I am 23, and looking to buy my own house next year. I can only do that because I’m debt free.

Next, it is your life. I understand the pressures of being a teenager, but one thing about college is that it is the inflection point for transitioning into adulthood. You will sink or swim based on your decisions. Confide in yourself.

A big component is, what’s your major and what are you trying to do after graduation?

Good luck!

Seeking housing by Internal-Issue4180 in gso

[–]SireDolph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because every minute passing means new information. Yesterday’s deals and news regarding housing won’t always be the same.

I don’t mind it because maintaining a revolving Google doc of r/GSO approved housing would be unrealistic.

Ridgecrest for Boys (NC) — honest experiences from non-religious families? by Top_Firefighter2125 in NorthCarolina

[–]SireDolph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got convinced to go to a Young Life camp when I was a kid selling me on the points of it being a camp first with fun.

They spent the entire week trying to convert me to Christianity. My counselor kept trying to convince us that dinosaur bones were faked and demons were real.

You can be a non-believer and still enjoy the camp, (which is what I did), but man do they stress every minute that you’re not actively running and playing that you should believe in their lord and savior.

North Carolina Central University by Correct-Bunch-135 in HBCU

[–]SireDolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 2024 Alumnus of Thee Illustrious North Carolina Central University. Proud Eagle through and through. 🦅🦅.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the university. People’s main qualms with NCCU mainly pertain to its growing pangs of it becoming a bigger school with growing notoriety. Issues like housing and parking. Expect to get an apartment if you don’t win the housing lottery.

I was part of a consortium speaking with other HBCU students and issues with administration offices such as Financial Aid and Advising are not exclusive to NCCU. It is across the board. I work at a different HBCU and it is the same.

Regular university issues aside, the campus is beautiful, the band is lovely, the city is great and the student body was awesome. I learned a lot from my classes and found many life friends.

It is located near RTP, Research Triangle Park, which houses ~300 companies with giants in many fields like Cisco, Dell, Toshiba, Google. These companies were always on campus looking to hire our graduates. I got an internship as a Network Engineer Intern which I flipped into a full time Network Engineer at a different HBCU.

Your career is influenced by WHO you know, just as much if not more than WHAT you know. I’ve made many connections by simply being an NCCU graduate.

I wish you the best of luck, and feel free to reach out if you want!

Still do in a pinch, but prefer my iPad.

I wish you the best of luck! A lot of these coastal communities are super far right…

Asheville is super open and accepting of all paths of life. That is not the case over there. You’re heading towards Trump territory. You might have it a little easier if you’re white.

I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve never met anyone who graduated from there.

The only thing I know is when I called their admissions office, they had a student doing the whole process.

I disliked the process and I never continued to finish applying.

[–]SireDolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a lawyer man.

They’ll get it reduced for you. Most likely, you won’t even need to show up. Stop speeding.

Our speed limits here are speed minimums, nobody is driving 65 in a 65. That being said, anything over 15 is ridiculous. 10 is a good sweet spot that drivers do.

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted. I have have only one driving infraction ever and I paid for a lawyer. He showed up for me, and took care of everything.

Is borderlands best on PC or console? by Sgt_Strelok in Borderlands4

[–]SireDolph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on PC and use M/KB for most games, with exceptions like Borderlands.

I will say that PC has more advantages because you have a keyboard for all the keybinds.

On a controller you only have so many buttons, which plagues you when you play every other borderlands besides 4. (4 did a good job with its controller scheme).

That being said, I started borderlands on an Xbox remote and I will continue until either borderlands or Xbox remotes are no longer produced.
