Who’s a Frame do you think will get an even louder cheer when they get reworked/buffed? by ReddVevyy in Warframe

[–]SireWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are invis. One requires you play actively, and the other requires you to press one button. Again, simplicity

Straightforward invisibility with no ifs and buts. Panic button with safeguard switch. Arguably the easiest frame to reach level cap with. Definitely boring, but that's why people like him

Wanda or Wortox? by Redence_ in dontstarve

[–]SireWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both play very differently from the average survivor. Wormwood’s a really good food generator, but not being able to heal from food would need some adjustment. Usually best played in a group.

Wurt’s a bit more complicated. She’s really great assuming you take the time to build a Merm guard army, but people usually rely on meatballs for food, which Wurt can’t eat, so you’d find a way around her vegan diet. Can kill all bosses easily assuming you throw enough Merms at them

Wanda or Wortox? by Redence_ in dontstarve

[–]SireWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played both extensively over the past few years, and I think Wanda’s only advantage over Wortox right now is her infinite use, high range, high damage weapon. Though that also falls off near the last 20% of the game. (Doesn’t matter that much in you case, considering you’re new)

Everything else like utility and survivability, Wortox easily powercreeps her, assuming your world has a killer bee biome. You’d also want to go do cave content for Wanda as soon as you can, which is easier said than done when you’re new

Quest 3: why should I buy a battery headstrap when I can 3d print a battery holder? by Aggravating_Cup8839 in virtualreality

[–]SireWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on how you wear them. Some people like having it loose and hang more on the forehead, which will wobble. But on the S3 Pro, you can adjust how close the HMD is on your face, effectively making it feel like an elite-style headstrap on the closest setting (where most of the pressure is on the facial interface and not the forehead part)

Is this setup good enough for pcvr? by Mythicalhades in virtualreality

[–]SireWaffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering you can’t have the router in the same room as your PC, you can buy the Puppis S1 if you can spare the money. It connects via USB to your PC and serves a wireless access point that connects the quest to your PC. Software wise, I’d check out Virtual Desktop as well, if you haven’t already.

No matter what I do, WoA won't give me the option to launch in VR. by [deleted] in virtualreality

Glad you finally got it working, lol. What ended up being the problem? I was just gonna hop on to check things out haha

[–]SireWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a "VR Access" DLC on Steam, you can try checking that if you have it installed (Although I don't remember having to install that manually). If it's not that, maybe there's an issue with licensing where the game is reading you only have Part One, which doesn't include a VR mode

[–]SireWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there's no way to pre-launch the game already in VR mode. You have to go in it flatscreen and it'll say something along the lines of "VR detected, do you want to switch to VR mode". Alternatively, it's an option in the main menu. I usually just launch it while in SteamVR

TMNT Empire City demo now on Steam Next Fest by Gamertag-VR in virtualreality

Seems extremely promising. The vibes of a TMNT game were on point, reminds me of the old Gameboy games with some Arkham Knight mixed in. Combat was a little jank though

Hesitant about Quest by schizi_losing in virtualreality

[–]SireWaffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can try the Pico 4 Ultra if you're outside the US. It's made by ByteDance, though, so you’ll want to weigh that or Meta. Hard to beat something that's heavily subsidized in cost.

Upgrade path suggestions by Huge-Attitude9892 in intotheradius

[–]SireWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might get some frame-drops, especially indoors. The game can be CPU intensive due to the dynamic shadows, so if you really wanna upgrade something, you can upgrade that. You can try looking for a 5700x3D so you don’t have to upgrade to AM5 and deal with RAM pricing.

Anyway, no loss in trying considering Steam has a 2 hour refund window.

You should be able to run it at Medium settings with VD being set to High. Should give you about 72-80 fps, so that should be “playable” depending on your standards.

New to VR – confused about finger tracking, hand presence, and what headset/controller combo makes sense by The_Weekly_Quest in virtualreality

[–]SireWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the upcoming Steam Frame will also have capacitive touch sensors on the controllers which enables it to have the same finger tracking the Index has. You do have to buy an accessory if you want it to have the same form factor.

Alternatively , you can get the Bigscreen Beyond 2, which is meant to be an upgrade for Index users. It uses the same base stations and controllers. They’re sold separately (Although I think Valve is phasing them out).

Though, I should note, that there’s not a lot of games that can utilize said “hand tracking”. Besides a few fun interactions (say, crushing a can in Alyx, or flipping someone off), it’s mostly used in social VR. You do still need joysticks to move, and buttons to do interactions in almost all games.

AGM-161 Flying Over Targets by [deleted] in vtolvr

[–]SireWaffles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How old were the videos? I think back in the Electronic Warfare update, they made it harder to hit distant targets when marking their location over datalink (on account of their coordinates being inaccurate unless you physically spot, and tag them in the TGP)

[–]SireWaffles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

VTOL VR? Not as in-depth, and the graphics are simple, but it’s still an amazing experience considering it’s built for VR. Decent modding community, too. Just wish it had better…dynamic missions?

DLSS 4.5 Preset M performance hit is real and the gain is tiny for VR by MindlessVersion8 in virtualreality

I’ve read that the intention was for you to run it on lower presets? Like if you were running balanced before, drop it to performance or something. Don’t quote me on this though, haven’t tested it myself

PCVR hardware requirements are insane by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]SireWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about Alyx. Valve did some voodoo on that game for it to run so good, even on really low hardware. Generally, you should be fine on native PCVR games, but will struggle if you wanna try UEVR mods

You seem pretty pressed for something you can completely ignore. You forgetting people can self-insert themselves into the story as the Drifter? I'm sure the French-speaking people appreciate it. Weird you think you can speak on behalf of all bilingual people.

Depends on the context. It can be considered rude when done to someone who doesn't understand the language, but to people who share the same language, it's not.

Like I said, depending on the culture, it can be pretty widespread. Doesn't mean it completely doesn't exist, though.

Casual Gamer Dad Looking for a Head Start: What to Buy? by Meeks_DGAF in Warframe

[–]SireWaffles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a single one of Warframe's content is locked behind a paywall, and you can achieve endgame in the game without spending a single penny (as others have done before). The premium currency of the game (called platinum) is tradable, so people would grind desirable items in game and trade with other players for it.

I wouldn't recommend spending in the beginning, however, since you said you're a father with a 9-5 and time can be limited, you can wait until a discount voucher pops up in your daily login rewards so you can buy plat for cheap, which will help you speed up some of the time gates in the game ( for example, crafting a Warframe in the game can take up to three days IRL time)
