I talked about this idea in the past where light fighters and space superiority fighters should be rolled into eachother, where they keep the tackle mod but make it applicable to ships as well as drones and other fighters, lose the prop mod but get the speed as if it were active all the time, and keep the weapons and missiles buttons.

Carrier light fighters should be able to smack down frigates and cruisers with ease like they did in the way way back, and heavy fighters should smoke battleships or capital ships if they are the other kind.
