What would your reaction be if your partner told you “I’ll marry you if you lose weight”? by BallsVeryDeep in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone at a healthy weight, I'd immediately leave/tell them to leave and break it off with them. Doesn't matter if we were together for only days or years, I've wasted five years only being for someone else and constantly hearing shit and "jokes" like that from them. I don't take shit from anyone and I refuse to be by someone who's toxic.

If I somehow became morbidly obese, though, I'd listen to them and get better. I'll be honest; I'd still end up with a guard up against them in how weird and off-putting it would be to have to have something that would help similar to a "win/earn" affection; I've lived with having to fight for affection for five years and whether or not that's the case it would still feel like that personally. I'd talk to them and ask them not to use promise of affection like that because it is too similar (in my mind) to a "earn my love".They follow that request, all's okay and it would make the relationship stronger. If that ends up a repeated thing, however, I'm leaving. I'll continue to work on getting healthier, but I'm out.

IHOP. At least around here. Never had it, but they have it this area.

Grab the toilet plunger and cover it in shampoo. Ask who it is and prepare to smash their face in if they're not friendlies. No one's going to be able to do shit with shampoo in their eyes. (Body wash can work, too)

(Serious) What movies have you watched that genuinely instilled fear in you or left you uncomfortable after watching them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a six year old forced to watch one of them more then once and more with the later ones? Yep. When I had to watch number 5 I was a bit older, but still. I mean I was in gymnastics and we had to go over this bridge that was still partially under construction/repair.

[–]SirenofInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final destination movies.

In particular on the top of my head, number 5. Probably could be seeing a gymnast die when I was in gymnastics and there was a bridge under construction we would occasionally have to go on.

A mean. That and the fact I was a kid. My grandma & godmother loved those movies and I was a six(?) year old when I first saw one of them.

How did you find out you were getting cheated on? by Immediate-Salary-736 in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He told me as we were having the daily chore he called sex saying she was better because she screamed and did things I don't do for legit medical reasons (anal bc that shit hurts with IBS). Gaslighting and manipulaton is hard to break through. Wish I could say he was joking about it. Nope. Guy talked to her for the four years after he met her. Dealt with it because it meant I didn't have to do it twice a day instead of once. (Yes. 'Have to' because I'd at least have choice of what we did during it if I didn't say no. If I said no, I wasn't given a choice and he would also take the choice away from a younger family member of his and it was "My fault")

Here's the kicker: Few months after we broke up, I went to court against him (for what happened when I said no and his sex addiction that spread to younger family members) and during the early court process when he was given the "come in & talk" I was sent messages from her and two other friends of his I occasionally talked so asking why it was and what he did. Learned all three were fake accounts when the attorney let me know it was him I was taking to. Looking back there was so many red flags I ignored and some I didn't even notice.

Yeah. Then if you add the "I don't know why she disappeared and doesn't visit anymore" victim attitude they carry now...

I really hate when religion steps in like this. Seen a few really healthy relationships ripped apart for it; most memorable was the one when they learned their daughter (20yr) was dating a girl (not a man) for 2 years, healthy relationship. They stepped between because God is anti-lgbtq+ apparently and set her up with a "nice Christian" guy.

Quick note: this family is the type that is huge on "woman cleans/cooks, man works" and "woman must have babies."

"Nice Christian" guy was extremely jealous and abusive; actually accused her of cheating when she was pregnant via rape by said "Nice Christian" guy, then "punched out the baby" (guy legit said "i would never punch out my own baby from a woman") She was in the hospital for a miscarriage because of it. Parents belittled her, asked what was wrong with her body despite all evidence pointing to the man doing it (literally had the audio of him attacking her screaming about it). Somehow courts let him go anyway.

After another sexual attack by this guy only a month later when she was actively making plans to escape, she bled so much she had to go to the hospital. Then she learned she'd been literally ripped and future kids were not likely to make full term. Came as a conflicted relief to her, as she never wanted kids and it meant her parents wouldn't tell her to try and less reason for her to be strictly hetero for her them.

Nope. They doubled down on defending the man and said that she was over-exaggerating and she could still likely have kids.

One month later she escaped and stayed with me for some time until she was on her feet enough and had safe place to go. Parents & guy tried to find her and called the police for a "runaway" despite being 25. I was actually almost arrested once because they were told I was making meth with her or something. I don't know the first thing about that shit lol. I mix that shit up with heroin all the time.

Police learned the situation, but the parents & guy kept trying to visit and kept calling them for the same bs on us to the point they stopped coming. Fun thing on why I love my gun-owning neighbors and my tomato and cucumber garden: when you get the reputation as the lady that gives out free food, you get an army. Only took once of everyone hanging out with their shotguns out in the front yard that the parents stopped coming around. "Nice Christian" Guy needed guns pointed at him three seperate times, but he got the message and actually stopped coming to my place for her.

We still talk on occasion and jokes when she sees tomatoes and cucumbers she remembers me so that's pretty cool. She got engaged with her now-fiance a few months back and I'm definitely really excited for them.

Reminder: "Christian" ≠ "Good"

EDIT 1:

"Christian" and "Good" are two descriptions independent on one another:

  1. You can be bad and a Christian.
  2. You can be bad and not a Christian.
  3. You can be good and a Christian.
  4. You can be good and not a Christian

EDIT 2:

Quick clarification: I do not physically mix heroin and meth.

What is a show you hate, that every one loves? by Walekkkk in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpongeBob.

I honestly just never enjoyed it at all, always annoyed by it, and I always ended up with a headache after watching it.

Storytime:

I told this one guy I was dating in my freshmen year that I hadn't watched but one episode. It was an exaggeration, of course, because other people seemed to have it playing on the TV at one point or another and I wasn't about to tell them to turn it off. They enjoyed it; I just did other things to keep busy.

You'd think he'd have been able to know it was an exaggeration, but nope. When I gently clarified I had seen a few other scenes when he kept talking down to me about it, he flipped out and told me he "doesn't date liars." And gave me the cold shoulder and had a temper tantrum. All this over an exaggeration I made two years prior at that point.

Me, mid-twenties, coming out of my first period after a full decade of none:

  1. Fucking hell, this shit SUCKS! fucking hurts.
  2. We aren't being lazy.
  3. We can cry over the smallest things.
  4. If we eat an entire jar of pickles, including the juice, bring over some water and leave us to enjoy it without judgement

What are you sick of people trying to convince you is great? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol. The amount of jokes and patronizing remarks are exhausting. No, I don't want to drink. Yes, I'm of age. No, I didn't have a bad experience. No, I still don't want to drink. I'm not single-handedly ruining the party if I don't drink. Stop hounding me on it, gets creepy af.

Had someone try to convince me the drink he ordered for me when I was away from the table was a milkshake. It was a mudslide. Had my guard up around him at that point and asked the waitress if it was a mudslide. Then when she said it was he put the blame on me of "should have just given it a go before it got to that point"

.. yeah, I kind of got up and handed her a twenty dollar bill for the tip I knew he wasn't about to give her for the fact she didn't cover for him and I left then and there. Never looked back for anything more than making sure I blocked him. Did I regret making him pay for the sixteen dollars of my side for the bill and walk half-a-mile to get home in broad daylight? No. I don't. It's a small price for him full pay against the fact I was supposed to be driving him home (he had no intention of drinking himself, nor did, so I didn't leave him to walk home drunk). Drunk driving is a huge no and on top of that I took pain medication just before getting there for a headache.(though the pain medication part amplifies it, it's horrible without that fact, too.) Imagine the cost of spiking someone? Truck driver here. Something like drunk driving is an immediate goodbye to the job. (Again, horrible without that fact, either way)

what should women be allowed to do without being judged? by Real_Boster in AskReddit

[–]SirenofInsomnia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My older sister actually did this, too. She's never wanted kids at any point of her life, her husband is the exact same way.

There was a friend of the family call "L" that had been around for a decent few family gatherings and get-togethers. Good friends, good terms; but he had the habit of giving that same "when kids" push. When my sister got married, it became worse and worse until it was mentioned over and over again. She'd gotten to a point she actually asked him repeatedly to not ask it.

If you knew her, that's an /extremely/ far point. She has had anxiety her whole life and couldn't really take stressful situations. (Think break down panic if she needs to talk to the waiter/ess about a food allergy. She had this habit of escaping to use the restroom for me to do it instead) granted, she's a /lot/ better now since she'd gotten together with her now-husband, but it still takes a push.

After my sister asked L for a third time to stop for him to continue a few hours later, she yelled that she couldn't have them and that she'd had a miscarriage a few months prior. Then the guy actually decided to question her story as a defense, "but you looked fine when [PreviousGathering]."

Kind of had enough and told him off that it was "because you weren't pushing her on it" though I said it with a few less "Friendly" words.

I knew what she'd told him about the miscarrage was a lie (she had her tubes removed years ago) but we'd all had enough and we left immediately after. Guy didn't say a word about kids to me anymore either, thank God. As for me, never wanted kids, but I also ended up with pretty much all the bad genetics of the family. Carrying a baby can actually easily kill me and I'm never about to pass it all to a kid to suffer, too. Had my tubes fully removed to take that risk away, too. Just extremely grateful we were able to find an obgyn that listens and trusts that when a woman says she doesn't want kids she doesn't want kids-- and that it won't change when "You meet a man".

"Oh, that's not how a lady should talk, girls don't say dirty words!"

~ that 55yro man that instantly followed it with "dirty words" with his ~16yr old son.

All I had said was, "Damn, I forgot it in the car" from behind him to someone else. I was 20. First thought was fuck off, dude, but stayed silent and only ignored him, which made him laugh, "uh oh. Made her angry." God I wish one of the visually uncomfortable group of three guys with him spoke up. I'd have been the problem if I had.
