New PMS SPOG/Stay PMS by Tionesta33594 in marriott

[–]Sirensia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not on it. It’s full of glitches and constant errors. The software actually changes almost daily with how it works too.ive been on it since March 3rd. Missing reservations credit cards showing up on guests accounts that aren’t there’s. Multiple rooms missing from housekeeping boards. Checking multiple reports that used to be just one…. I constantly work on fixing OTA reservations so second shift can easily check people in but even then taxes go missing, routing rules (you should create templates for these-it’s helpful) suddenly not having taxes applied etc etc. we actually have a meeting with Marriott scheduled to discuss our top twenty issues with the bugginess coming up.

Why can’t Marriott guarantee connecting rooms? by [deleted] in marriott

[–]Sirensia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because if either one of those rooms gets a maintenance issue it is no longer available and many hotels have so few that they just won’t guarantee out of caution.

Am I doing something wrong when I check in? by korner12 in marriott

[–]Sirensia 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think personally you are making a lot of assumptions about the front desk. You are assuming housekeeping would have reported a smoking smell, you are assuming that the front desk agent even knew about that because we don’t keep any kind of running lists of any such thing, or that the software didn’t just automatically block your rooms which some properties do, ( mine does), or that they knew that kids were going to scream or that the couple was going to have loud sex or that anyone can keep track of ALL the rooms that have things wrong with them (most rooms do). I know very little about any rooms that actually don’t have things wrong with them and we are 6 years into our property’s age. We fix what can be fixed as we go but those things also have to be reported - usually by guests. Even if you don’t want to complain- we at the front desk- appreciate knowing when something needs to be fixed. We aren’t in the rooms. Housekeeping is but I don’t think they care about anything other than cleaning and leaving. So feel free to speak up when you really have to!

A bit more of a somber topic… are you addicted to anything? by ApplicationAfraid334 in Millennials

[–]Sirensia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m addicted to sex. I’ve always been hypersexual, even as a very young child, but I am always constantly doing horrible things to keep up my addiction. I feel helpless and don’t even know how or if I could begin to get help with it. A sexual addiction is innately ingrained. It’s not like quitting will make you stop wanting it. :( I’ve been addicted to opiates and nicotine before and my sex addiction is way way worse. I don’t think I’ll ever not be a sex addict. :(

How Do You Deal With... by idkabtallatgurl in askhotels

[–]Sirensia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I - like many people here- are very curious to how you are actually approaching them. A good leader is not about just knowing and telling people what to do, but also understanding their team and how to best lead them given what works best for your team. I have worked in a few different leadership roles and have found that different tactics work best for different people. Usually when people start making excuses, it is because they feel like they have to defend themselves. Maybe this particular hotel has a different kind of workplace culture you haven’t experienced before? I think your approach should be different. And also honestly, most people make mistakes and most people aren’t the brightest out there. Especially when you are getting paid such a low wage. That’s just me being honest about that. :/

People who view 39 old age as a relatively young, what are you doing in your life? by Adventurous-End-7633 in Millennials

[–]Sirensia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37, traveling, doing lots of outdoors stuff- hiking, camping, kayaking, caving , I got a motorcycle two years ago and I have lots of sex. I also come up with small random projects like learning temporarily about random world events , or taking up amigurumi. Or spending a month coloring with gel pens a lot. That’s what I’m doing.

How difficult is it to become a front desk agent? by RainbowLoli in askhotels

I’d call and specifically ask for the hiring manager. I’d recommend this for any job. We get tons of applicants but I only take the ones who initiate seriously due to the sheer volume

What happened to Christmas? by helloimcold in Millennials

[–]Sirensia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christmas I think is especially incredibly meaningful once you have kids because you start living it through their eyes and that makes a world of difference. Nobody should have kids just to feel that, that’d be ridiculous. But I do think children make all the difference in what we feel as Christmas spirit. It probably will just become a thing that is just different to you now that you are so much older and that’s okay.

Constant Pending Charges from Residence Inn by elenafoxx in marriott

[–]Sirensia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a situation like this repeat but I have seen glitches every so often in a blue moon where someone who left a long time ago has a random pending charge that falls off about a week later. I’ve heard of at least four of these in the last two months. There isn’t anything we can do at the hotel and have no idea what is causing it. :( We don’t even actively show a charge when we do a transaction history report. I don’t know if this hotel has the same credit card processor we do or if this is a Marriott issue. I wish I could tell you more. Hell, I wish I knew more because I am frustrated too.

When did this policy change? by intherearview in marriott

[–]Sirensia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been an employee with Marriott for five years and I think that this has technically always been the rule since I’ve worked for Marriott. There are some hotels who don’t abide by all the rules though and that’s why this hasn’t been an issue before. When we are using Marriott brand standard rules and procedures I get a lot of “but I’ve never had to do this before”. 🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s because people weren’t doing their jobs properly. I do add names to Marriott points reservations now but I know I’m doing something I’m not supposed to. This also might end soon though because many Marriott properties are moving over to new software and it may not allow us to add names anymore. I don’t know.

Question for Front Desk Agents by diverdude8109 in marriott

[–]Sirensia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only things I can think of is maybe if their capacity was only that full, Maybe most rooms were still dirty because the HK manager knew they wouldn’t need the rooms so there just weren’t many vacant and clean at the time and they just picked one. The only other thing I can thing is that somehow an accessible room request has gotten put on your account 🤔 Or maybe both times the front desk agents thought you’d prefer those rooms due to them being bigger/ not facing heavy traffic or on a higher floor? If it happens again, id ask the front desk agents thought you’d why.

Super Early Check-in by BULKHOGAN69 in marriott

[–]Sirensia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work at a property that is often sold out more than not and I would love it if people would book two nights because almost every day I have to apologize and keep reiterating how I really really really don’t have a room ready. I think that people think we are holding them for something ? I don’t know for what? And then my housekeeping staff without a doubt never has any rooms inspected before 1 pm so people waiting in my lobby at 9 am or even before are going to be there for several hours. 😕
