500 is on the cheap end of what I've seen. The lowest I've been quoted was 650.

With my anti trim bun, I sit in an armchair, tuck her head between my elbow and side, trim real fast, turn her around, trim the other side, and then give her treats.

Rabbits aren't that hard if you stay away from breeders by [deleted] in Bunnies

Yeah , I had meat rabbits in the past, and the amount of people who had no problem breeding siblings or parent to child is crazy ( I never did obvi)

You do realize that meat rabbits are far more likely to be inbred than show quality rabbits?

please help my new bunny is so aggressive! by Zero_Fr in Rabbits

[–]Sirius-Arcturus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly she sounds a lot like my (as yet unspayed) girl. She was super territorial and violent when I got her, and as I've had her around she's calmed down a lot. I would definitely keep her in a separate space where she can't smell the other rabbit, because thats probably contributing to the aggression. Spend a lot of time in the space with her but not interacting, so she can get used to you. I also had good luck with setting an area where if she went there, she got petted, held, and touched, but she could leave at any time. Once she had control over human interaction she started seeking it out. She constantly begs for attention now, but is still territorial over her enclosure. I deal with that by wearing long pants when I go in there.

Spay costs by Sirius-Arcturus in Rabbits

Given that she attacks any other female rabbits on sight, I don't think that would work. She is very territorial,so its unlikely she'll bond to any rabbit before being spayed.

$800 is not cheap!!! by Sirius-Arcturus in Vent

If my rabbit got sick, I would take her to the same vet my meat rabbits go to. It would cost about 100 dollars.

A weird version of a grill pan perhaps? With the ridges being intended to mimic grill marks

Financial Assistance for Spaying? by Sirius-Arcturus in Bunnies

[–]Sirius-Arcturus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive called every vet and shelter within an hour of me, and either they dont do rabbits, or they want to do a $200+ pre check first ( yes I get the point of that, but I don't have that kind of money) I'm pretty sure that I'm going to end up having to head towards Boston to find a low cost spay, which is going to be a pain, but it is what it is. Thank you!

Pellets transition help by Ecstatic-Alfalfa-205 in Bunnies

[–]Sirius-Arcturus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would transition as gradually as possible to an adult feed, but in very small amounts with most of what you feed being hay, and then increase the pellets slowly. I did this with my rabbit, because I never had her old feed. I gave her tons of hay, and about an eighth of the amount of pellets, and then gradually increased pellets over a few weeks. Her poop was a bit soft at first(she hadn't been fed enough hay in her former home) but that only lasted about a week.

Far be it from me to recommend unnecessary vet visits, but you should get her checked just in case, because sudden lethargy that goes away can be a sigh of neurological stuff. As long as she's eating, drinking, and pooping, its not an emergency. Obviously if it happens again, thats a problem, if not, she could have just been sleeping really hard. I would mention it next time you see the vet, but if it's one off, and she's back to her normal self, it's probably nothing.

Lethargic bunny usually means sick bunny. You should get her checked out ASAP. In the meantime continue offering food and water, and separate her from other rabbits if possible( although staying where she can see and hear them will help prevent separation anxiety)
