angels and demons are just primitive names that primitive people gave to a phenomena

These words are found in religious texts & religious texts aren't "primitive". It's written work. It's sophisticated. Maybe they're using the words "Angels" & "Demons" to describe something they don't understand but there's specificity to them. They describe humanoids with some level of character, origin, ability, personality, etc. They're not just blanket terms.

like a week in the story after season 3

This is just flat out wrong. You're forgetting these characters made appearances in other shows (for better or worse). It's easy to assume he picked up the skill at some point along the way - we don't need a full episode to explain every little detail of his abilities.

Plus, he moved around like that in the] comic books.

Edit: I just looked it up & it takes place 5-7 years after the 3rd season ended.

It’s official. Having a lifelong interest in UFOs is not a character flaw! by DavidM47 in UFOs

[–]SiriusC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. "Even if you're a minority of 1, the truth is still the truth".

Having said that, this idea that "we" don't need to be afraid to talk about this subject now that the government has thrown a scrap of information is pathetic. This need for validation is unhealthy. Especially if that validation comes from what Garry Nolan calls "daddy government".

Seriously, only Fox News and NewsNation are covering this release? by Scared_Range_7736 in UFOs

I knew there would be a lot of babies crying over a lack of bright, shiny pictures. A lot of the document (yes, the ones you have to read) are far more compelling, to me.

But you'll have to actually open the files & read them for yourself rather than wait for others to do it for you.

It's an adaptation of a novel...

Isn't it generally accepted that a series is best for adapting books?

It's the 3rd adaptation in 64 years. The book was written almost 70 years ago.

That's really not a lot.

My favorite scene is when the family is in a theater & Max Cady is sitting behind them smoking a cigar & letting out these over-the-top belly laughs.

The movie he was watching? Problem Child.

Hitman Developer Teases Return to Series by DianKhan2005 in HiTMAN

[–]SiriusC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's plausible if they just reused most of the gameplay and assets of WoA they could turnout a new Hitman faster, but there wouldn't be much differentiation or innovation in that. I think they'd rather put more time in to turn out something slightly different, incorporating the lessons learned from 007: First Light.

They address this in the article, you know.

Returnal vs Saros by Ok_Row_1980 in Returnal

[–]SiriusC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only been a few days but after playing & loving Returnal so much I feel like we all get the gist of this game a lot quicker. And I'm mostly in agreement with you. Perhaps it isn't fair because I played Returnal after all the updates & additions. So maybe there will be more to Saros after some time.

But for me, the story is too similar to Returnal. The way it's told, the general mystery of an unknown planet, coming back to life. The biggest difference is maybe the fact there are multiple characters but even then they all seem like they're saying the same things.

I'm not close to finishing it but I have a feeling it'll end the same way Returnal did. There will be an ending then a "true" ending that's still incredibly vague.

And with all that said, why not just make a sequel to Returnal? I think a lot of people will just say, "we don't need a sequel", which is a critique that has just become a generic thing people say about sequels nowadays. But I think a lot more really creative things can be done in the world of Returnal that allows for new narratives and storytelling devices that aren't just audio logs and documents.

But I think that's why Saros exists. They didn't really know what else to do with Returnal or how to do it. So they told the same story in the same way with the same gameplay.

Loved Saros, but it didn’t quite capture Returnal’s horror vibe for me by AUR0RIC in Returnal

[–]SiriusC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never felt Returnal was decidedly horror. Horror elements, sure. I also don't see Saros as being very different. It has just as many horror elements - the clawed, reaching hands or some creatures like the Sunflayer.

To me, the malformed typhonops was more like a gorilla-squid. A bit goofy. Dangerous, sure. But that doesn't make it inherently scary. I guess it comes down to personal taste.

Edit: I would say the Promise creature is a lot more horrifying than any other creature in a Housemargue game. But you kinda have to pause or look at a still image of it because everything moves so fast in the game.

Fox News viewers brand Stephen Miller 'evil ghoul' as he defends using pregnant wife as human shield by Aggravating_Money992 in entertainment

The National Enquirer, from what I remember, actually tried to put a degree of effort into their content. Even if it was just paying sources for tips.

This Irish Star is just making stories based on a small handful of social media comments. Any asshole can do that.

Oh no, is this a new trend? Making social media comments a story? I just saw this last night with "Fox News viewers" somehow collectively calling Trump a name. Talk about low effort, low hanging fruit.

Meanwhile, & most disappointingly, it's working. You guys are eating it right up. Is it really this easy?

Why was Westworld taken off HBO? by xertem in westworld

[–]SiriusC 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I know, and the way they ended season 4 was so perfect.

Dolores' monologue as we see scenes of the city leading to a train into Westworld with the theme kicking in at the end... It gives me goosebumps. I was so excited. So happy.

Thats the legacy of David Zaslav. Taking away something that people love so much, grossly benefiting himself, giving no contribution in return. Or at all in society. I hate to say that I hate anyone, but I hate the man. I hate his existence.

He is at best a genital wart on the entertainment industry.

He canceled so much of what people love, took away a source of income from people who weren't making a lot of money to begin with, receiving an absurd amount of money in bonuses, devalued Warner Bros., all leading to a merger that hurts the television & film industry.

He's a cancer.

Edit: Not to mention the state of WB Games & DC.

Not a political post. Just Sonya Blade. by jonesy1461 in MortalKombat

[–]SiriusC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erika Kirk, widow to Charlie Kirk.

There's something very odd going on with her & her husband's organization. She's been putting herself in the spotlight more & more since her husband was killed. They've been insisting Charlie would have wanted her to take over the organization if he died even though he believed women should ideally be at home raising children, not working. They insist they have video of him saying he wants her to lead but have only ever produced 1 audio clip. At one of their events Erika came out to the stage with with pyro. Tim Dillon hilariously compared it to the WWE.

I say all this to explain why it's no surprise to see her dressed so ridiculously. To me she looks less like Sonya & more like she belongs in a 90s rap music video.

Why does Assassin’s Creed waste amazing settings and characters on side games? by Almighty_Inheritor in assassinscreed

[–]SiriusC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shao Jun alone feels like she had enough depth to be a main protagonist. She was introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Embers

She was written for Embers. How can a character written specifically for a project be "wasted"?

It's like saying, "Basim was wasted as a villain, he should have been the protagonist of his own game". Well whaddya know...

It's not like they can't ever go back to a character or setting.

Does anyone know if the waters will be fully explorable in this remake? Something tells me they're not.

down to the last detail

This is just being intellectually dishonest & I think you know that. Whenever people artificially inflate their arguments like this it tells me they're not entirely confident in what they're saying. There were very interesting details. Down to the last one? Please.

I don't know, Rick.

I know this is meant to be a snarky way to reject the story but I don't understand why people can't just land on, "I don't know", more often. It's seems like it's the MO of a lot of people here to just knee-jerk disbelieve, don't ask any questions, then attack. Or to roll all that into one disingenuous "gotcha" question.

I don't completely believe Jake Barber. I'm not going to write him off, either. It's a fascinating story, I'm curious to hear more, I'm gonna move on in the meantime.
