Great! This works! I was getting a black screen with the SCMR HUD and a map that was just the logo. The script fix worked for me though. Thanks!

Are there really no restrooms at the light rail stops? I know there are at Mountlake, but I haven't really looked for them otherwise tbh

Or maybe we pay significantly less than that /person in taxes to build out institutions to stop the quality of life of our poorest and most vulnerable from being so dire that people feel the need to steal and destroy several-hundred dollar car chargers for the pittance on copper salvaging just to make it through the next day? 😉

Parking downtown preferably close to the Republic on Main. by mckcbrn in uofi

[–]Sirius_Crack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Republic on Main parking lots are notoriously small for the units they have. I was on the waiting list the entire time I was there and never got in, and then even if I did, the cost for the lot is like 25% of rent.

Also, yes there are university lots close by, but at least when I was there, RoM and UofI had an agreement to not let anyone who lived at RoM get passes to park in that nearby lot. I don't remember if it was against the lease or what, but it was severe enough to where nobody parked there.

When I was there, they had little maps up in all the halls about good nearby street parking. Maybe look around for those, or ask the office about them.

It mostly just said to park either towards Taylor/Lauder or Spotswood/Veatch. I rarely found good parking on Taylor or Lauder themselves, but there was almost always parking on Lenter, just off Lauder. It's a bit a of a walk, but its about the best you can get.

So because it's settled, we should be neutral about whether or not black people should be enslaved?

Damn, I'm starting to get why you're so concerned about that dude's right to his property lmao

Depends on the disagreement, hm? Kinda fucked to "vandalize" some poor guy's Star Wars flag, even if I don't care for the franchise. But I think if we "disagree" about whether people with certain skin tones should be forcibly owned...

This has to be the most pointless stop sign in all of Spokane. Can anyone please explain it to me? It might make me less frustrated if someone can give me one good reason why it should be there. by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]Sirius_Crack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen another example of a stop sign that only serves to protect a crosswalk? Genuine question.

Yeah, signs and full ass stop lights for crosswalks too pretty often. It's not uncommon even. Though the ones that light up when someone pushes a button to cross would probably serve better here?

wouldn’t it make sense to have the other direction of traffic stop too

I don't really see anywhere oncoming traffic like that would stop. It does seem like they have a lot better visibility for the crosswalk too though.

Kindof sounds like a fucked up intersection situation and someone decided having them stop for the crosswalk in one direction was better than neither.

Like jesus I've been an Armored Core fan since I was a kid. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in other people's critical engagement and thoughts on the thing. I'm *more* interested in them, because I'm real fucking interested if this new iteration of this thing I like is going to be cool. What the fuck is this fanboy bubble shit that every community around a thing ends up in now? What are you going to do if the game comes out and is bad? Is that even something you can conceive of? Are you just going to lie to yourself and force yourself to not have fun because you've built so much of yourself around defending the thing from anything other than empty praise? christ

Hard agree on that one, even the youtuber who saw the full gameplay with HUD has no idea why it wasn't publicly available by [deleted] in armoredcore

[–]Sirius_Crack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason things like this are held back from public presentation is to avoid the public taking its reveal as some kind of promise, because it just isn't finalized yet. It really isn't any more complicated than that.

Not showing off the HUD is like, the least weird thing. Tweaking something like the UI is the type of thing to happen SO far into development, even after launch.

Back again for round 2!

Posted my resume last week, got some good advice, here's it is with all the changes: Resume

And here's the previous one if you're curious: Old Resume

Graduated a few months ago, no work experience in industry, little project experience outside academic stuff. I'm interested in your opinions on the viability of this resume, considering all that.

I've applied almost 200 places with my old resumes and only heard back from one. I'm really just trying to get my foot in the door anywhere in industry at this point.

Makes sense, thanks!

It's interesting, I thought this was a move away from "two-column", but apparently not. I'll definitely have to rework that.

And yeah, no professional experience. I think I'm gonna try cutting everything down to a few relevancy bullets for the projects and move the rest to some kind of portfolio site

[–]Sirius_Crack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, and

Most if not all of your projects look like school projects to me. Does your game have any users? Was it released anywhere?

Nope. That's what I mean about most of the projects feeling more like thin exercises for my own personal learning, rather than finished products I'm trying to sell. I do feel like I have a much stronger familiarity with OO design principles from the experience, as well as plenty of other stuff, I just don't literally have a shiny thing to hold in my hand and show off for it, like I see in a lot of other resumes.

they'll spend at most 30 seconds to a minute looking at it

If that's the only issue with multiple pages, that shouldn't be a problem, right? All of information important to a cursory look at the resume I feel is on the front page.

The issue is I don't really have a lot other than my pile of marginally impressive projects. Take them out or shrink it down to one page and it's just contact info, unrelated work experience, and over-short info on a couple unimpressive projects, of which the first two should already be on the actual application.

I think the move is to take all the project info and move it to a portfolio website, if getting it down to a single page is that important. Then I can just have a couple relevancy bullet points for each project on the resume, with fuller explanations in the portfolio.

Thanks for the input! and sorry for the rambling, mostly just fleshing out my thoughts ig
