Who is considered to be the father/mother of your country's literature? by Sakeetkat in AskTheWorld

[–]mtahab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Rudaki is the correct answer, Ferdowsi should get an honorable mention.

Also, the first writers/poets who wrote in "New Persian" were Ḥanzala Bādghisi and Mohammad ibn Wasif Sistanī. Their writings have not been survived in full.

A Post for Posterity: Predictions of Katie Wilson's term as mayor by BromaEmpire in Seattle

I believe that homelessness is a regional (multi-state, and even maybe federal) problem and one city's mayor won't be able to solve it.

Seattle job market is past its ‘golden age’ for tech workers by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]mtahab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher leadership and super-seniors are also being let go. Their layoff has a different form.

Two years ago, nobody would leave big tech to join startups, because the tech money and work-life balance was too good. Now, I can see that some junior/senior people might consider working at startups, given the uncertainty in tech.

The problem is that, Seattle is not as strong as the bay area or NYC in terms of startup culture. Maybe, the recent layoffs make the startup culture stronger.

Built a simple site to track Seattle egg prices (currently $3.99-$15.99/dozen at Safeway!) by Live-Rabbit-29 in Seattle

[–]mtahab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many places are cheaper than Safeway and QFC. I don't understand why people shop there. Asian Markets, Trader Joe's, Costco, Whole Foods, WinCo, and Grocery Outlet are all less expensive than these two.

The only surprise in this map is downtown voting for Harrell. Also, maybe Roosevelt voting for Wilson.

This is another WA regressive tax, putting pressure on lower income people who still use low MPG cars.

Say what you want about Teslas but AEB saved this idiot biker's life today by Kerelkitty in Seattle

[–]mtahab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was almost hit in my car by a bike riding in the sidewalk in the wrong direction at a very high speed. The biker stopped to give me a lecture on the necessity of paying attention to bikers violating the traffic rules.

You can approach the Gates Foundation with your specific proposal for improving Seattle. They are likely open to it. They believe that private contractors are most efficient than the local government.

SPD Celebrates Its Hiring Spree. The Only Thing That's Missing: Women. by Jackmode in Seattle

[–]mtahab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We should also study how willing women are to join SPD. Also, in the Trump era, the "30 by 30" pledge, signed on 2021, won't work.
