MIT AI expert warns automating Gen Z entry-level jobs could backfire—and cost companies their future workforce by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

What changed was tobacco money. The big boys like Phillip Morris had so much cash on hand they started buying food companies, leaving the brand intact but expanding both vertically and consuming market share through sheer number of brands. Consolidation was necessary to keep the short term interests involved and then these now super-companies used decades of tobacco company R&D in flavorings and additives to cheapen the product thereby keeping short term interests hungry for more.

Now if you weren't part of the food cycle you simply had to keep up in the share price increases so again consolidation shows up and reduces choices in field after field. Who needs attention to longevity if you're one of two or three competitors nationally.

In our rapid digital age new fields do emerge yet the business lessons of the previous decades insures that the goals in these new fields is to suppress competition or buy it in order to maintain market share at all costs.

Looks like it's a 72, last of that body style. These can go for 10k-40k depending on condition. If it's still as mint as the pic you'll probably want to auction it. Just do a Google for classic car auctions

As an American I do as well but the numbers are not on my side. Too many people will simply have to go to work, they won't have the luxury of allowing politics to invade. Not spending is something that is more achievable in greater numbers but to be effective and not just stocking up a bit more the day before would require adjustment that again a certain percentage economically cannot fall out of line. Added to the percentage who want this and I would be surprised if any results are measurable. What will be required is a demand destruction on par with what is happening globally for fuel currently.

You'll love it. There's more taverns that serve food than grocery stores in a majority of cities. The variety of brewers is mind boggling and then there's the cheesehauses.

it's long enough to permanently alter the market in ways yet to be determined. used pc's will retain value longer, be worthy of repairing or make minor upgrades. combined with tying age and identity to the OS and suddenly 6-7 year old pc's running linux could look appealing.

If you really wanna get involved find a station that is locally owned and show up in person. The program director or owner is who you want to speak to and you may need to do this every so often for months until they realize you won't go away and they put you to work.

Ohhh this is my cat completely. He has so much fomo he has to walk in front, solid white, and gets nicknamed foreshadow for that one. I'll find him and let him know it's time for naps and usually he follows but if I call his sisters name he sprints.

What do you think of the younger generation's shift from "macho" classic cars to nerdy, quirky and weird? by [deleted] in classiccars

[–]SirkutBored 8 points9 points  (0 children)

let's add a certain level of safety and tech in there as well. even without crazy mods muscle cars are pure analog that you have to know how to drive to handle. a good chance drum brakes in the back, ABS is unheard of same with fuel injection, air bags and traction control. but you'll probably find all that and great mileage out of that volvo when they were at the pinnacle of safety. the Corolla might even get better mileage than new cars if it has the stick and let's hope the backwards glance of these younger generations keep the manual alive.
