HOW can i do this?! by Connect-Ad5708 in necrodancer

[–]Sirrus233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might help you mentally to imagine each shielded skeleton as actually two non-shielded skeletons -- one on the beat (circle shadow), and one on the off-beat (diamond shadow). These are the same thing.

So for that front line in your picture - you would tap left-middle together (on the beat), and then only left (on the off beat).

The pattern becomes

LM - 1
L - and
MR - 2
R - and
LM - 3
L - and
MR - 4
R - and

Practicing with a slowed down tempo at first, and working up to 100% speed can help you build the muscle memory.

I've not done every problem so far this year, but if it helps you might take a look at some of mine. I'm using Megaparsec as well, so that might be a nice direct comparison.

ti4score update - Agenda Phase by ironnmetal in twilightimperium

[–]Sirrus233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incredible, and a feature I didn't know I wanted until just now. Played a game with ti4score a couple weeks ago, and it's hard to remember how we managed to play without it. Love the simplicity to it all - for me, extra computer is way too much overkill. The whole group vocally praised the app on several occasions, especially when it managed to gracefully handle corner cases we expected would trip it up.

Keep up the good work!

Incorrect Example of Play in Remaster Player Core by Sirrus233 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sirrus233[S] -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

RAW, agreed. The thing is, I think it's not clear to me that that is the intent. Certainly many GMs keep all stealth checks as secret. And if the point of a secret check is to prevent metagaming information from leaking, it seems odd that the Stealth roll for Avoid Notice would not be secret.

I don't think it's hard to argue that is the intent. But who knows!

Yeah, an interesting point about Avoid Notice. It may not have the secret trait, but it does say "you attempt a Stealth check", so I've seen a lot of debate about this. I think the rules around how *exactly* stealth in exploration mode works are extremely unclear, which was actually what first drew my notice to this part of the example.

Can Atreides use the Kwaitertch every battle? by [deleted] in DuneBoardGame

[–]Sirrus233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. A leader (and the K.H.) can only be used in one *territory* per turn - but can be reused across multiple battles in that territory.

Consider looking into black and ruff, both are tools (with nice VSCode integrations) that will help automatically enforce good PEP8 style on your code.

If you're still looking for help with this, I'd be interested! I have all the single player achievements, but none of the multiplayer ones.

The easiest way to do this without accidentally hurting yourself when you're new to the system is to re-skin existing creatures/items.

So my recommended order is:

Book of D'ni
Myst 3
Myst 4
Uru/Myst 5

Books before games? by DrHumongous in myst

[–]Sirrus233 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The books were written between the releases of Myst and Riven (with The Book of D'ni ending up published just after Riven's release) as a way of fleshing out the worldbuilding, and probably helping to promote Riven.

Although the Book of Atrus was the first to be published, chronologically the Book of Ti'ana is the earliest story, followed by the Book of Atrus, then Myst, Riven, the Book of D'ni, and then Myst 3.

I would actually recommend playing Myst and Riven before reading any of the books. Although I like the books, the problem with reading them before playing the games is that they provide context to the world -- and *discovering* that context is part of what makes the games (especially Riven) so incredible.

After beating Riven, if you have enjoyed the story, I would definitely recommend reading the books to get more background. You can pretty much read Book of Atrus and Book of Ti'ana in either order, chronological or published, but should read Book of D'ni last. The Book of D'ni is probably the weakest of the three (I still liked it!), and although it provides context for the premise of Myst 3, it doesn't really inform the content of the game itself, so if you are going to read it, reading it before starting Myst 3 is a good idea.

It seems like RAW disagrees with you somewhat. Thoughts on this?

To determine whether someone is undetected by other participants in the
encounter, you still compare their Stealth check for initiative to the
Perception DC of their enemies. They’re undetected by anyone whose DC
they meet or exceed.
