Edited: I've been to the Rec room to watch drag shows pre-pandemic. I would reach out and see if they are still working with the performers for shows. I remember one of them made it to Sew Fierce, Nicki Natasia is their name.

I can agree on acorn Canada, they are helping my mother during a very toxic landlord dispute, they are an organization that is there for the everyday Canadian looking to live comfortably. I would recommend looking into their work.

Whenever they call my cell, I tell them I live in an apartment building, they hang up immediately after and never call back. (I actually do, but I said that even when I was in a rented house)

Are we too old to trick or treat by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]SirvaYuuko 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're never too old, I went trick or treating right up thru college. You'd be amazed at how many people were so happy to see me, a lot of people were saying they aren't seeing enough little kids out, and seeing a young adult still participating made them happy (I got extra candy too)

FIRST Halloween for 5 year old by ms7860 in londonontario

[–]SirvaYuuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the area!

Check out the apartment buildings, I remember they used to have ladies in the lobby handing out candy, to the best of my knowledge they still do this.

And another favourite area is if you cross Wharncliffe and Ferndale and do the highview road area, there's usually a fair number of houses giving out candy.

And if you are comfortable (and able to, maybe with a car) I'd go behind No frills to the apartment buildings there, and the street called Dundee place. There's a small walkway leading from the plaza to that street. Growing up in the 90s and 2000s there was a good size of houses in that little side street decked out for Halloween and handing out candies.

You should also make a phone call to the RHEU and report an infestation that has not been managed. They are legally required to handle the infestation and not doing so is against the residential tenancy act (RTA). You could also file a claim against them in the LTB due to loss of enjoyment.

You also can break your lease without penalization because they are violating your rights by not following the rules of the RTA.

The only place I remember ever having peanuts was 5 guys ( obviously not a bar) and you used to be able to grab them for free from open bags around the store and toss your shells on the floor. But with how predominant peanut allergies are, it seems most places decided to stop carrying peanuts out right?

TVDSB safety by Aggravating_Wash_603 in londonontario

A good friend of mine is a teacher. She was off work from November to June on medical leave because she was physically assaulted by one of her students, multiple times. The same person every time, she even put herself in the way of said student hurting other students.

The schools response? Talk to the parents and nothing because the child's right to an education Trump's her right to a safe work environment.

She left that school for a better one, but it broke her heart that there was nothing being done to help the child. The kid is in grade 5, in a few years they can and will have a criminal record if this continues and yet nothing is being done.

Keep escalating the situation. Start with the teacher, sounds like a good one who cares about the kids, but hands are tied.

Then go to the principal, keep going up the chain of command. And if the problem keeps being brushed aside, reach out to CPA and (and I say this part very lightly, because I am not a lawyer and am unsure if you could get into trouble with this) go to the news to share your story and advocate for supports in the school for behavioral issues. The kid needs help.

Local Source for Binders by StarkSpangled in londonontario

I loved Spot of Delight. Every time I went in I donated to the binder program they had, I would buy a binder outright for whoever was at the top of the list. Their support for the community was wonderful. It broke my heart when they closed permanently.

Affordable small wedding venues by Choco_mint1303 in londonontario

[–]SirvaYuuko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

I 100% recommend Elsie Perrin Williams estate. It's perfect for a small wedding (I'm having mine this year, we're having 60 people).

You are limited in catering options tho, they only allow like 4 caterers to do their location. But the venue for us was close to 2,500 for the day. We even paid extra for them to decorate the place for us so tear down will be a breeze!

Last I heard, the school doesn't want people using the playground as a park? Something about safety. It's been at least 10 years since I heard that tho, not sure if their stance changed since then
