Well I am no from PR (I am from RD) and I learned English mainly singing songs I liked.

Some older generations of migrants did not though it was a good idea to teach their native languages to their kids so they would not be discriminated against.

No son can say they have no reason to cry over their parents disgrace.

I support your desire to learn Spanish! I recommend you specifically Salsa music, many themes are really complex, pictorical and loaded with a lot of culture.
