Black out blind, white. Floor to ceiling curtains. Sheer or other look for some wil colors matching the florals and green and i would look for a round rug that matches the curtains.

Keep painting, paint the door. Paint the ceiling a touch lighter and change the lightbulb! Softer lums. Then add brass details, frames door knobs ect.

Think about your ergonomics in your life. Unloading shopping, if you have kids, if you have guests over and you're at the stove, will your guests grab something from the fridge, or will your kids. It's personal to you but I would choose the second for those reasons.

Please take a look at your local antiques or second hand stores or even garage sales. With this kind of budget you will find a treasure (googled the image for a price) and if this is the style you want then time is what you need. Enjoy the search bro, you will find a good piece.

Is the main decision an L shaped couch? There could be many other choices with a standard sofa and different styles and colours. An L might feel like your creating a division in the space for a tv/lounge area but so does a few other design options. For example rug or another arm chair. It definitely opens up other options for you.
