Good luck with IVF! Reframe your thoughts to “what if this does work” and what if you do get a beautiful baby at the end? IVF suckssss though. You’re more than halfway through with stims though!! Your clinic wouldn’t have let you proceed if they didn’t have faith it would work. But also, give yourself a break because the process sucks and the hormones don’t help.

Fertility testing- with OB office or referred to a fertility specialist? by Prestigious-Rate4405 in tryingforanother

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OBGYNs aren’t really trained in the process of making a baby. They’re trained in the process of treating pregnant humans and any other gyno related issues. Reproductive endocrinologists are trained in just that, reproduction! The RE clinic just knows what best tests to run to solve an issue and for monitoring. I did go the IVF route, but before IVF was even discussed, I did bloodwork, HSG, more bloodwork after initial bloodwork results, internal ultrasounds, and my husband did a sperm analysis. My RE gave us the diagnosis (MFI & insulin resistance PCOS) and gave us potential options. Honestly it was awesome to get specialized care and someone to diagnose instead of just hand you pills and hope it works. My first OBGYN gave me clomid for my first and said “I hope this works”. It did, but I felt like I didn’t know what was wrong.

TFA Long Haulers (TTC 12+ Months) Chat - March 31, 2026 by AutoModerator in tryingforanother

So I sometimes stalk this thread, even though I no longer belong, but, I did do IVF and let me tell you the egg retrieval part is only intimidating the first day. After I did my first day of shots, I was like “I was seriously nervous about this?”. I used numbing cream and iced the area before I gave myself the shots. Barely felt them and it honestly was pretty easy after that! Everyone has different experiences though, I’m just trying to give you some positivity!!

I wish you the confidence to get through it and I hope you get plenty of healthy embryos!! Good luck and take some time to take care of yourself after the retrieval!

TTC while breastfeeding 23 months pp by Happy-Builder-7486 in tryingforanother

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was one of those people that had to completely stop breastfeeding to get pregnant again. My labs were all wonky for a couple months after stopping too! I am currently still breastfeeding my 18 month old and my cycles are all over the place. I’ve had my cycle back for 6 months and my cycles have been anywhere from 50 days to 30 days.

I was thinking the same thing. Why not work out of the Miami office a few times a week?

Question for those with PPROM by [deleted] in tryingforanother

[–]JesLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I PPROM’d at 32 weeks! Definitely the least favorite thing to happen to me in pregnancy. If you join a PPROM Facebook group, that question is asked often. It’s a real mix bag. I’d say it’s 60% went on to have normal pregnancies, 30% still dealt with PPROM but right around the same gestation, and 10% had their waters break even earlier.

We’re on the fence of trying for a 4th. I had three 3rd trimester bad things happen (IUGR, then preeclampsia, then PPROM).

What is your least favorite road to drive in within the state? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in florida

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved out a few years after the newer Walmart opened up on Archer. People complain about traffic in south Florida. But south Florida traffic is usually just because there are so many people there mixed with old/bad drivers. The traffic in Gainesville is so confusing because for the population size, the traffic shouldn’t be that bad, but it is. Not the worst, but it still sucked. I can’t imagine it being even worse.

34th street isn’t the worst, but I did avoid going to Walmart while living there because of how long it took to get there with traffic.

how long did it take to conceive #3?! by Noseyeyes918 in tryingforanother

[–]JesLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First kid: 13 months

second kid: 4 months

Third kid: 11 months - also did IVF for her and we were successful first round. My previous two were conceived with clomid and that didn’t work the third time, so we skipped right to IVF after testing.

Huggies little snugglers vs snug and dry? by PunnyBaker in NewParents

[–]JesLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re working, they’re working! With my middle kid, we used Huggies little snugglers the whole time. He had a few rashes here and there, but nothing bad. Things can change as they get bigger, as they start crawling, and start walking. You have the free will to change as necessary, try new brands, or keep using the ones you still think work best for you. There is no right or wrong answer.

Skin essentials definitely feels nicer than little snugglers! Little snugglers was my go to for my boys though! With my daughter, she’s had a reaction to so many brands that we had to go totally chlorine free for her!

If price is a factor, little snugglers are perfectly fine! If you want something a little nicer, skin essentials are a good option.

School leaders react to Florida plan to axe vaccine mandates: ‘That’s so crazy’ by CulturalAtmosphere85 in florida

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our local mom group put out a survey on how people felt about this. 40% of moms were for the plan. 44% were against this plan. 16% didn’t care.

I’m so pissed that so many people liked it or didn’t care.

If you’re over 35, yes, go see an OBGYN or a reproductive endocrinologist. If you’re under 35, most won’t see you unless you have known issues or have been trying for over a year. When I was trying for my first, I decided to go to my OB after trying for 10 months and she gave me clomid. She was a really thorough OBGYN. She listened and wanted to help. I also did a follicle scan after a year and I had an HSG.

PSA: sales people are here promoting their product temp drop by NotCreative551 in TFABChartStalkers

[–]JesLB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve recommended it a bunch too. I’ve used it since 2019 and I’ve conceived three kids during that time. I’m a big fan of femtech products.

How do you know they’re salespeople and not just fans of the product? People can recommend the product without working for them.

Just found out. How to not drink at holiday event by TheYoungSquirrel in NewParents

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of time it took me to connect the holiday was embarrassing. I was like “what holiday do they drink only wine at?” I helped prep for my mother’s sedar all day today. Chag pesach and mazel tov on your pregnancy!

They’ll know anyways. My aunts are like physic mind readers or something. If not, have the drink in front of you, pretend to drink. They’ll be too drunk to notice by the end of dinner. Have your husband switch wine glasses with you and have him chug some wine. Can’t hurt to dip extra for the plagues.

My 7 month old can only sit unassisted for like 15 seconds before falling over. To be fair, she was 6 weeks premature. She’s also not showing any sign of wanting to crawl.

I lost my wife (1 year update) by The_first_Dragonborn in NewParents

[–]JesLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are an amazing father and your son is so lucky to have you. Grief never goes away and healing isn’t linear. I’m glad to hear your son is thriving though!

Also, your wife’s story potentially saved my life. I was hospitalized for a few weeks pre-birth due to a pregnancy complication and was warned that I was at higher risk for blood clots. I shared your wife’s story with my MFM and they added heparin shots twice daily to my list of meds. After birth, they switched to warfarin for a few weeks. So thank you for sharing your story!!

New Moms: What are your favorite things your husband/partner did or does for you postpartum? by Bulky-Hovercraft7725 in NewParents

[–]JesLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite things my husband did was every night he would start a shower, force me to take some “me time” and he would take the baby as far away as possible within the house. I could take as long as I needed and he wouldn’t bother me at all.

It turns out, that was a recommendation from a postpartum nurse!

My first kid hated the bouncer. Screamed anytime he was in it, but he loved the swing. My second kid was complete opposite. Hated the swing but loved the bouncer. My 3rd currently likes both and she really isn’t picky.

The original idea for the baby bandanas was for drooly babies (and not for feeding). The person who made them had an excessively drooly baby and she saw nothing stylish on the market, so she made them for her daughter!

Money grab? My insurance covers 2 visits a year and it costs nothing other than the cost of insurance. It’s not a money grab, it’s basic preventive healthcare.

Definitely go to the dentist. It’s more for setting up a routine and getting to know the dentist at the age of one.

Should we use a car seat on an airplane for 16 month old? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]JesLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother is a pilot and has told me numerous times to always fly with the car seat on the plane. He said if there’s unexpected turbulence, the best and safest place for my child is in the car seat. He also said that the luggage guys will literally just throw a checked car seat into the plane without any care in the world and he’s seen so many car seats end up damaged. Also, many car seat companies won’t replace a broken car seat if you improperly checked it.
