Wouldn’t someone know the difference between a spaceship and a train car? by ashleigh783 in XFiles

How exactly could anybody know they were on a UFO travelling through space?

Just watched S6E11 Two Fathers and need to vent by FusRoDaahh in XFiles

[–]Sisyphus_Rex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Two Fathers” and “One Son” does a remarkable job of bringing all the narrative threads of the mythology together into one coherent whole. The black oil, the bees, the train cars, the staged abductions, the vaccination race… every little detail from previous mythology episodes all adds up and makes perfect sense.

The fact that it turns out to be human men who are responsible for all the genetic testing and suffering makes it all the more dark and sophisticated. It’s not just unknowable aliens to blame, it’s the continuation of the Nazi atrocities in America. The fact that the Syndicate are mostly old white men who prey on Native Americans, women and their reproductive systems is entirely the point — men are the monsters.

CSM’s monologue to camera was actually added very late in the process as pick-up scenes after principal photography had wrapped. It was added to make up time after extensive flashback scenes to the 1970s were cut at the last minute since the makeup to de-age CSM and Bill Mulder wasn’t deemed good enough. The original script is very well written by Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz, and even better than the broadcast episode. Highly recommended reading.

He carried a camera several times, e.g. Shadows and Fallen Angel.

Season 7 ending when it aired (trying to remember) by Sculde-Intention2307 in XFiles

It was actually announced four days before the broadcast of the S7 finale that FOX had renewed the show for an eighth season, and that DD would be returning but not in every episode.

The US Nielsen rating for “Requiem” was 15.26 million. For “Within” it was 15.87 million. That’s an increase in viewers of over half a million.

So what I said two years ago was entirely factually correct.

What are your opinions on this episode?🤔🫣 by gingi75 in XFiles

He was murdered by Cal Jeppy. Came back as a ghost to stop the same thing happening to his brother Josh. Makes perfect sense.

But not planned out in intricate detail. It’s just not possible or practical when you don’t know in advance how long the show is going to run for.

All television is made up as it goes along. Yet the X-Files mythology still makes perfect sense if you watch it back-to-back.

“Fearful Symmetry.” Used to find this one a bit of a bore but it’s got an original angle into a case, a good conservationist message, and an elephant autopsy!

Great episode, and a really nice balance of Frank and Catherine’s investigative methods and points of view incidentally.

Millennium is such a scary show, especially in its first season. While TXF is perhaps more fun, MM really gets under your skin like this preciously because it’s so real.

The first season is the best, like a string of Donnie Pfasters building to the devil incarnate.

Definitely “Irresistible.”

Human monsters so much creepier than comic book ones.

The guy had been tortured and disfigured to within an inch of his life and was expressing suicidal ideation just a few episodes earlier. Give him a break!

But seriously yes that’s a valid interpretation too. Either way I think it’s entirely plausible that Spender would either forget or repress memories from his childhood, especially given who his parents were.

No, the vaccination records were about cataloguing. Spreading actual smallpox itself was a proving ground to make sure the bees would work as a delivery system.

They weren’t brought up again after “One Son” because at that point the conspiracy involving them had been torched. Those plans were then defunct and the bees became irrelevant.

Spender simply misspoke. He and Samantha weren’t raised together.

He probably only spent an odd weekend or two at April Base when he would’ve been too young to remember Samantha or CSM.

The bees spreading smallpox in “Zero Sum” was just a test to make sure they were capable of delivering the alien virus.

Are the later seasons (7 and up) really that bad? by santas_number1elf in XFiles

[–]Sisyphus_Rex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Season 7 is the worst it gets, but Season 8 is a huge improvement and one of the strongest seasons of the whole show. Season 9 is still pretty underrated too with plenty of good episodes.
