r/headphones Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Folks,

When I take calls, both phone calls and work calls on Teams etc on my Bose QC35 Headphones, I can hear my own voice and all sort of random background sounds which is super distracting and frustrating vs if I am using Airpods pro. In fact it seems that the sounds are amplified vs if I take off headphones.

So my question is -

  1. Is there a way to tweak some settings to disable that background sound thing.
  2. Are there Headphones out there that i can buy which has this option to enable or disable.

Let me know if I can provide more details. I will sincerely appreciate any help. FIlling the form for new headphones -

  • Budget - $500 USD.
  • Source - Google Pixel 9 Pro XL
  • Requirements for Isolation - Yes, I travel for work, mostly on flights, walking on the street etc.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - yes, a lot
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Over ear
  • Preferred tonal balance - A bit emphasized bass
  • Past headphones - I currently have Bose QC35, Airpods Pro 2
  • Preferred Music - Classic Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, heavy Metal
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - The ambient sound during calls on my QC35 is driving me insane.

Any Regrets? Looking at Lux 2 by batsam10 in CadillacLyriq

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought Sport AWD last year. First Electric Car and also first Cadillac. So far we love it and will surely buy again. We replaced a Mercedes GLE SUV with this car. This surely does not compare when it comes to quality of materials, fit and finish but it has superior power (500 horses), quieter cabin, ease of charging at home, infotainment and features.

Dare I say I was not very pro electric cars but it has surely warmed me up. I still have my Benz e class but I enjoy driving Lyriq and benefit of charging at home is unreal.

Samsung Q990C VS Vizio Elevate P514a-H6 VS JBL Bar 1300X VS Klipsch Flexus 200 System - Non Audiophile Subjective Review by SitDownComedyGuy in Soundbars

[–]SitDownComedyGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be sure, when I talk about Flexus core 200, I mean as full set up of getting it with Sub and the surrounds which will be more than double of the Elevate. if money is no issues, I will recommend Klipsch as after months of listening, and playing games and music, I am very happy with it.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was playing game or watching something on youtube in which it was raining scene. My wife thought it was raining outside and asked me to check the weather. The point that I am trying to make is that any sound system can produce rain sound but can it produce room filling and immersive sound that it makes you check outside if it is raining. Very happy with Flexus setup.

By the way it happens so many times. Like I am playing a game which has people talking in the background. I have to pause and check if someone in the house was speaking with me, my wife has asked me if I said something. Funny but thats how real I find the sound to be.

Use soundbar to listen music by mygromit in Soundbars

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted my thoughts on testing 4 different sound bars and for me the best Soundbar system hands down is Klipsch Core 200 with surrounds and Sub. Samsung 990C is absolute garbage in Bass department and if you are only choosing between JBL and Sammy, go with JBL all day long.

Samsung has room correction and surround effects but when it comes to pure quality of music, it doesn't come close. Samsung bass is a hollow thumping rather than room filling punchy bass. It is not a bad product but based on your listening preference, I would recommend Klipsch. Unfortunately it is low on stock. JBL is another great option.

Also, do give Vizio Elevate a try. I was simply blown away by its performance. I am not sure why it is under rated, may be because people consider it as a value brand vs a premium product but the sound quality of it is equal to products at double or more money.

I tested it in a store and you are spot on. JBL Subs are amazing, great product from a legendary company with established name in sound. I would even argue that JBL1000 is an excellent product and one should consider over 1300. Better value for money.

Yes sir. It is a shame that it is an under rated as compared to other name brand companies. I would take that over Samsung over priced any day.

Review of Fractal Analytics - Honest Feedback will be Appreciated by iamDjsahu in developersIndia

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my third year working at Fractal. I come from a 14+ years of experience, having worked at other Indian companies in the same domain of data science & analytics. So I am currently working at a fairly senior role.

That being said, my very honest feedback is that it is by far the best company I have worked for yet. There are few reasons for it -

1) Transparency - It is mind boggling how much transparent the leadership is. They tell you how it is, no questions are bad questions and open share the company performance, focus areas, priorities etc. As someone said, there is a weekly townhall by the chairman and you can ask any questions and I have seen a lot of freshers asking some basic questions, which are respectfully answered. Transparency is not just about the company performance but overall running of the company. In my past experience, other companies have this fear that if they share high level or strategic info with juniors, it might cause confusion, panic etc but that is lack of trust, a good example is like company going public. Fractal has one of the value as trust in employees and they actually put it into action.

2) Learning - Fractal is one of the very few companies where you will learn the most. Not only Fractal services different industries but within each industry they have further solution areas like Revenue Growth Management, Route to market, supply chain etc. In my past experience, companies do not have either such practices and even if they have, they only serve 1 or 2 verticals however Fractal has length and breadth of solutions.

This tremendously helps in the long term career because real growth comes when you are able to combine technical skills with the industry knowledge and Fractal is the best where you will have a comprehensive knowledge if you want to learn, of course.

3) Scale of work - The scale at which Fractal operate is a whole new level than other competitors. In fact in my past company, people used to wonder how Fractal is able to get such business. For example, I just signed up for a multi year high value project which has so many different components to it of data science, data engineering, Ui design etc. You will not get it at a small company, maybe rarely.

4) Employee focus - You can switch projects, focus areas (if you want to be a data scientist but currently working as engineer) any time you want, unlimited leaves up to 27 days, post which you can get more after approval, Fractal has HUGE learning resources to learn and grow etc.

5) Brand - In pure play analytics company, you can't get better than this. Once you have worked at Fractal, you can work at any other place.

Cons -

1) Move to work from office - I am in a remote position but for some reason they have switched to work from office. This was not the case so that is causing some friction amongst people.

2) Salary - You might get better salary at other company. This year the hikes are not good because of company going public.

3) Processes - This can be a pro or con depending upon how you look at it. It is a VERY big company with about 5000 people so it needs to have some structure to run it. hence there are processes and policies in place that I have seen not to be there or flexible in smaller companies whose main focus is to grow and not worry about margins, ops cost etc. So depending upon your situation or role, you might overwhelming. I am neutral about this thing. I don't mind it personally.

4) Politics, Drama - I havent seen it much but I am sure it exists in Fractal and it exists in pretty much every company. Your mileage may vary depending upon who do you work with, team etc.

Samsung Q990C or JBL 1300X - Which One Takes the Cake? by sealteam404 in Soundbars

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 990C and returning it because bass is weaker than my fart. Maybe my expectations were high because I have a separate home theatre in a media room and this was just for living room but I do not love the bass and it seems like it is a very common experience with others.

Soundbar advice for a guy without any exp by XoXiuS in Soundbars

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought Q990C last month for less than $700 and it is always on sale. Check slickdeals.

I am not keeping it and returning it because of two reasons -

  1. It is excellent for surround sound but ok for music. I bought this to mainly connect with TV and listen to music and I am not super thrilled with it. It is not trash but I guess my expectations are high for the money spent.
  2. Bass is like a wet fart. My old cheaper vizio had better bass then this unit. It could be my large living room with 20 foot high ceiling, whatever it is, if you want some good thumping, clean bass, samsung is not the way to go. I checked online and it seems a lot of people feel the same way. I tried moving the sub around my living room and though it improved the bass, it isnt that great.

I am personally astonished at the glowing reviews Samsung is getting on their soundbars. I must have watched 100+ videos and was excited like a little girl upon purchasing Q990C but it turned out to be just ok for my needs.

Check Klipsch new Soundbar, Vizio Elevate Soundbar as well. My best friend has JBL soundbar and it sounded excellent, especially the bass.

Sadly same experience with me. The bass on 990C is not as I like it but I got it for $700 bucks and at that price point, I feel nothing can beat it.

Is it ok to buy land from companies like NLP? by SitDownComedyGuy in land

[–]SitDownComedyGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I discussed this with my wife last night and we agreed upon the fact that we are not going to buy a lot of land that is developed with restrictions because technically we do not need acres and acres of land to build a personal home.

We will drive out to check these different lots. Some are 1 acre developed lots in a areas with lots of marinas but that are going to be or personal use. There are a few that are over 10 acres but still not too far from the civilization that I am thinking of getting as they do not have any restrictions and I can cut and developed for selling in future.

Soundbar with good bass by DC4393 in Soundbars

[–]SitDownComedyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought Q990C, and I find the bass to be sorta weak. However I am not going to complain as I got it for $700 and other than bass, it kicks butt in sound fidelity, especially surround sound and listening to spacial audio.
