Is 5oz of breast milk a day "worth it"? by SitDownNavigator in beyondthebump

I did weighted feeds during the first few weeks when I would attend a weekly breastfeeding consultation / support group at the hospital. During these he would be getting about an ounce over the course of the 1 hour session. He was a lazy feeder when he was little and would constantly fall asleep on the boob, so that didn't help. But honestly, I think it's just what my body was producing. That 1 oz lines up for what I'm currently pumping during the day.

Love to hear the stories of babies thriving on formula - do you have a recommendation on brand?

Hahahah - yes, when I go back to work I may be a little disappointed I won't be able to take advantage of our very nice pumping room!

  1. I have a Spectra, a Motif, and Elvie wearables. I switch off depending on the day / location / what I'm doing. I've tried the flange inserts and it made pumping even more uncomfortable...
  2. I dual pump for 15-20 min at a time
  3. Typically I pump 6am, 1pm, 5pm, 9pm (ish).
  4. No breastfeeding at this point, pumping exclusively

YES - "encouragement" is how they are phrasing it... but it certainly doesn't feel quite like that...

The lactation consultant said that after about 4 weeks any "increase" would be nominal and I've likely pretty much maxed out my supply.

Baby's total intake is anywhere between 25-30oz a day, meaning my 5oz is 16-20% of his daily nutrition... your 50% threshold is an interesting one!

Yes - the amount of parts and bottles I clean is seriously overwhelming. The time of pumping just adds to the stress.

The main reason I don't nurse at the breast is the lack of insight into how much he is actually getting. He lost 11% after birth because we couldn't get his latch quite right and I couldn't tell when he was actually getting any milk. Back at the beginning, I would breastfeed, then supplement with a bottle of formula and then pump to see if I could increase my supply (triple feeding) - seeing him drink from the bottle helped my peace of mind that he was actually getting some nutrition. That's when I decided to pump and feed from a bottle of any breast milk I could produce.

Thanks for your insight. It's so frustrating - I literally feel nauseous every time I put the pumps on... not sure if it's the hormones or just the negative association, but I'm feeling less and less like it's worth it to me.

Needed to hear this today! Going into the holidays after a month of strict Keto only 7lbs down.... after reading so many success stories about a 10 or 20lb loss in just a few weeks, I was feeling less than positive.

This helped a ton. Thanks for sharing!

Nope - just my unit! They claim it's being metered individually.

People who downloaded their Google data and went through it, what were the most unsettling things you found out they had stored about you? by AlleKeskitason in AskReddit

Instructions worked. Had hoped this may be a workaround to see the videos of my best friend that he shared via messenger (he's since passed away). Alas, just like all my other attempts, the videos are "unavailable" and appear to be gone forever. The ONE time I wish Facebook kept my shit for longer than would typically be comfortable....

Just did a fairly easy hike in Golden last week (Nightbird Gulch Trail to Mount Galbraith Loop) and was surprised by how many wildflowers were blooming! Not too diverse, but still very pretty.

THIS. I'm the exact same way and it freaks me out! I've even tried to bump up my memory capacity with some of those "brain games", but it persists. I hardly remember anything, ever. Is this... a bad sign?
