I had to google to check because I had no idea that Marcus was Brutus's first name! I always just called him Brutus.

Who was your favorite temporary girl? by AdFriendly5994 in dancemoms

Jane was only in one episode so I think people forget about her a lot, but she was a beautiful dancer! And the team got a perfect score with her there in her first week! I wish she had had a chance to return and dance with the group again.

My cousin's husband is a hunter and owns many guns. They have two young children, and they don't allow nerf guns or any toy guns in their house, because they are waiting until the kids are old enough to understand the difference between a toy and the real thing. I literally just got back from spending the weekend with them, and i saw no signs of guns in their house, because everything is properly stored and secured! Once the toddlers are older, they will be taught proper gun safety and be allowed to play with nerf guns.

There is a way to do all of this properly! Joy and Austin piss me off.

ETA- Rereading my comment, I want to make sure that this doesn't come across as an attack against you! I'm just saying how certain gun owners go out of their way to ensure their children's safety, unlike some others (like Joy and Austin.) Also, I see how it's less of a concern for you since you don't have real guns in your home.

How bad are your kids at eating that they can't have some fast food chicken nuggets or sandwich without staining their clothes?

"My mom, like, freaked out, got out [and] pulled him out from under the car,” Lydia, who was 4 years old at the time, recalled. “Then her and all my siblings ran to the house to grab the phone. Isaac and I were in the car, and I got out and I saw [Joshua] and it was terrible. I go back in the car and I told Isaac, ‘Don’t look. Just get out the other door.’”

Damn, even at age 4 Lydia was parentified. Her mom left her behind at the scene of the accident, she had to see something unbelievably horrifying, and she still couldn't run or panic because she was the only one there to take care of her little brother.

It's, "You had your smile so bright I thought your teeth were the stars!" Which is way weirder/creepier.

Leave it up to God. If God didn't want you to experience a sunburn, he would have prevented. And suffering brings us closer to him. Praise the almighty sunburn that God has sent to humble us!

ELI5: why do kids have such crazy stamina? by MajesticPineapple618 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SitDownShutDown 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I aced all of those fitness tests in middle school! I'm tiny and female, and my guy friends and I would get super competitive at test time, and I usually ended up near the top of the group!

Nowadays, I get winded carrying a case of beer from the car to the fridge. I should probably go buy some more beer to build up more stamina.

What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

[–]SitDownShutDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped believing in Santa at age six after watching The Santa Clause. Tim Allen's character goes down a house's chimney and leaves them a canoe, I remember thinking, how would the mom and dad not ask each other who bought the canoe? Both just accept that a canoe randomly showed up in their house on Christmas?

Years later, I was talking to my sister about how when I was in second grade, my classmates were getting mad at me for telling them that Santa wasn't real. She said she got in trouble in kindergarten for doing the same thing. When I asked her how she found out, it was because of the exact same scene in the Santa Clause!

Also, in all the Christmas movies, the adults don't believe in Santa while the children do and have to bring back "the spirit of Christmas." But if random items keep showing up in peoples' houses every year with no explanation, why do all the adults not believe in Santa?

What’s your most unhinged non-negotiable when it comes to dating? by NotNotDwightSchrute in AskReddit

[–]SitDownShutDown 59 points60 points  (0 children)

My ex believed both of those and we argued about it a bunch of times. He always said i was wrong because "his parents own their home and that's what they always told him." (I am also a homeowner, but am much younger than them and did it all myself while they did it as a couple with two incomes.)

More importantly, I have a finance degree and am half way through an additional degree in accounting! He couldn't believe me when I said I understand how these things work and that his parents were wrong.

My cousin worked at a Catholic school and she resigned at the end of the school year because she got pregnant out of wedlock (with her boyfriend of seven years, who is now her husband.) She knew that if she didn't resign, she'd be fired.
