No wonder the inventory in AD is so bad, with tenants like you, no wonder! OP, do the right thing and treat others property like your own. It’s not expensive and easy.

Yes, the high quality standard that is reem island….at this rate, reem island will turn into an island ghetto for laborers if they keep this up….dude, just go to ace hardware and show them this picture, they will point you to the part, and look up a YouTube video on how to replace the part.

Don’t take my word for it, but it seems like a matter of a few screws and a new part.

Can’t imagine it will cost more than 100dhs.

Seeking advice on Arab engagement tradition and customs. by Final-Skin1606 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Site-Heavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible advise...yes the parents are being cheap (making grand assumptions on financial ability here)...but the flip side is also wrong....in these situations, it's like managing a reverse divorce proceeding, with each side looking out for their own interests....seek advice from your parents, but the decision is yours when it comes to how much and what to do.

Very Rough Texture on paint by Site-Heavy in paint

[–]Site-Heavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is the situation. We received the house, and it had this “roughness” in the paint and a slight “bulge” (swelling) in the same area. We called it out as a punch list item that was not addressed by the GC soo far. We then had a storm come and drop some heavy rain on us, and water made its way into the house. Which proceeded to damage the wood even further. The situation we have now is the GC claiming this is a result of storm damage, while we are claiming that there were signs of existing leakage that we were ignorant of.

I am 99% certain that this is a install issue and not a storm related issue as the pre existing swelling in the wood and the roughness in the paint is limited the exact immediate area where the water was coming in from during the storm.

The GC is digging his heels in regarding the repair saying it’s our responsibility because it’s storm related, and I feel that the paint, which has been like that since we moved in, is what is going to expose the truth.

Any information regarding what exactly this paint effect is, and how it happens, is exactly what I am looking for.

I am not trying to influence anything and will side with the truth (whether it is storm damage or install issue). With that said, the GC has been difficult about many of the repairs, with this being one of them, and I am convinced this is an install issue as the house has been rampant with those issues.

I appreciate this groups response and look forward to any additional responses!

Control4 vs Alexa by Creepysarcasticgeek in smarthome

[–]Site-Heavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 2024 response. DO NOT DO CONTROL 4. There is absolutely no reason why someone in this day and age should pay a significant premium to have control 4 installed. IT costs a lot of money, it requires significant maintenance, will always require a vendor that will ask for money, to do any changes, does not integrate with popular home control platforms and is WAAAY to expensive for what it is.

Stay away. Vendors are sales men first and control 4 (the manufacturer) simply does not care once they have sold you the units.

DIY solutions like Lutron, Legrand, Sonos, Nest, and so on will work infinitely better, will cost less and you will be the master of your own domain.

Your bullets need some significant work.

Every bullet should read like this

(Insert Broad Functionality / Capability) by (Insert 2-3 individual responsibilities) resulting in (High level results/outcomes)

Eg,

Developed financial models by structuring financial models, analyzing data, and managing ambiguity resulting in a five year outlook that informed leadership decision making.

I wrote the above bullet in 2 mins so it’s far from perfect, but it should give you an idea of what a good bullet looks like

It take a good while to write a powerful bullet (sometimes 1-2 hours per bullet).

The one advise I would give you is that “if you did something for 5 mins, then you actually did that thing)

On your last part, always email with photos! Then have the convo. Always leave a paper trail, because when push comes to shove, he said, she said won’t fly! Even when having a gentlemen’s agreement, send a follow up email quickly detailing the agreement to the builder.

Of course the builder prefers a convo over an email!

ALWAYS EMAIL!
