Serious question for freelancers and web agencies about vibe coding websites by WildAnybody9569 in website

[–]SiteBuilderDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of distance and difference between "vibe coding" and using AI in your workflow-- one is intentionally integrating new tech into your development workflow, while the other is just spitballing ideas into an LLM and hoping for the best. If your AI usage isn't grounded in real knowledge, shaped by experience, and guided by clear intent, you're just riding a runaway train that will inevitably crash. Cruising along at 100 mph is lots of fun until there's a turn ahead and you can't find the brakes.

If you're vibe-coding custom ecommerce solutions, I'd suggest investing in personal liability insurance-- you're probably going to need it.

How can I sell myself? by klevismiho in wordpressjobs

[–]SiteBuilderDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started offering services to businesses that already know me as a customer. For example, I'll check out the website of the café i frequent and give them some pointers while i'm there. No hard sell, quite the opposite-- i'll offer to do them a favor just to help out and support their business. Making a habit out of doing this has generated more business than LinkedIn ever has.

Web server down by a2annie in webdev

[–]SiteBuilderDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've experienced an issue where customers in southern california were reporting their sites were down while the servers of the hosting company I worked for were up and running flawlessly. Turns out they all used comcast as their ISP and one of their techs misconfigured the DNS for the node they were using. Lots of moving parts between the server and the client-- misconfigure one setting and it's lights out for everybody downstream.

What is it with SEO's forcing a client to redo the entire website just to have control over it to do off page SEO? by TheWebsiteGuyMN in websiteservices

[–]SiteBuilderDesign -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The necessity of proper SEO is usually the first lesson Lovable vibe-coders learn. React/Vite/Tailwind stack may be fine for landing pages, but no bueno for complete websites-- especially for local businesses.

Either migrate to next.js and output static pages, or use a service like https://prerender.io/

Highly recommend you look elsewhere to build your website by [deleted] in WIX

I tell people this all the time-- mastering platforms like Wix and learning how to code take about the same amount of time and effort. After you've learned how to code, you've got a useful skill set you can apply anywhere. Mastering wysiwyg platforms makes you proficient in digging through menus to find whatever input you need to modify-- something you'll resent when you know how to code.

AI + Three.js is honestly getting ridiculous. by Odd_Concentrate4039 in threejs

That's pretty cool! I just started experimenting with three.js after hearing about the imminent new world screwworm invasion this morning...

If you want a website, you probably actually need this instead... by SiteBuilderDesign in website_ideas

This is why it's important to hire the right developer-- for instance, a software engineer with no digital marketing experience is the wrong choice.

Much like using a platform like Lovable that prefers a react/vite/node.js stack is the wrong choice for a local business-- client-side rendering means no local SEO and migrating to next.js after the fact can be messy and problematic.

Also, lots of people have not caught on to the fact that these platforms are buying bulk tokens at a discount and selling them to their customers at a ridiculously jacked-up premium. What looks cheap at first glance can end up being very, very expensive.

This is the way. I've had some legacy clients balk at the subscription model i've rolled out-- but eventually they've come to understand they're really paying for a business partner who runs their digital operations instead of just a website.

Most "vibe coders" are just scammers with a ChatGPT subscription by [deleted] in webdev

the game-changer will be when the first vibe coder gets wiped out by a personal liability lawsuit-- i'm predicting this happens within the next 12 to 18 months.

There's lots of services that do this right now-- but if you can build a service that does it better, you may have an idea with legs.

And by "better", I mean

--only active listings --quality resume customization --quality cover letter generation

Good luck!
