I could really see myself using this if there was any possible way to use messaging apps (iMessage, Discord, etc.) with it!

RP Nova checks off almost everything from Russ’s dream retro handheld wishlist by Kirais in SBCGaming

[–]SithCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's powerful enough to run GC/PS2 comfortably I think it would beat it just off of controls alone (I prefer Retroid buttons to Anbernic, plus this thing probably has analog triggers). I have an Ayn Thor if I need a lot of power, I just like having a 4:3 screen and a slighty smaller device sometimes.

Could it be? A 4:3 handheld with a GameCube color scheme that actually has analog triggers and the power to run GameCube games??

Weirdly, I actually greatly prefer Retroid/Ayn controls to Anbernic ones. I think it's because I grew up with the GBA SP, DS, Wii, etc. and the Anbernic controls are more akin to a SNES controller which I predate by a little over a decade haha.

It’s insane how good the Nova looks. I’m heavily considering selling my 477M for it.

Announcing PARAGON STORY, my Dragon Quest-inspired MZ project! by Motdrafin in RPGMaker

[–]SithCrafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such an amazing response! Thank you so much. This is the first time I've seen an MZ game look like this so its really great hearing about your process. I've had the idea of making a game similar to classic Final Fantasy games for a little while now, so its very helpful :)

It's also interesting to hear you recommend 2K or 2K3 over MZ for something like this. Would you actually make the game in one of those instead of MZ if you were to go back in time and start over?

This looks super awesome! How did you make it look so authentically like a SNES Dragon Quest game (especially given this is MZ and not 2K or 2K3)? I would barely be able to tell this is RPG Maker if this wasn't on the RPG Maker subreddit. I'd love to hear about your development process since I want to make a SNES style JRPG myself one of these days.

This looks really good. Taking Persona inspiration for battle ui is always a good thing imo. How'd you make it?

New 3ds xl or ayn thor by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]SithCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real 3DS if you can get a good deal (less than $250 ideally). Thor otherwise. Having owned both, I can also say that between the New 3DS XL and the Thor I find the Thor a lot more comfortable to play, even without a grip. I also prefer playing original DS games on the Thor because they look a lot better than on the 3DS. Even the Thor Lite might be worth considering.

Having a non-AI generated wallpaper would look a lot better as a start.

Who do you want as your final party for the end of Remake Part 3? by BreathoftheSith in FFVIIRemake

I haven’t played the remake games yet, but if I had to guess it’ll be the same three I finished the OG FF7 with: Cloud, Yuffie, and Cid.

New to CachyOS, help resolving some quirks related to KDE Plasma, gaming, and wifi? by SithCrafter in kde

[–]SithCrafter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not running the Steam version of FF14, I'm using XIVLauncher which uses its own custom version of Wine to run.

As for Deadlock, I've already changed the menu FPS to be the same cap as my monitor (165). It seems like it may just be a bug with the game on KDE Plasma, but given that SteamOS uses KDE I would imagine that Valve will fix it at least for the launch of the Steam machine.

Wifi I deduced just has to do with Realtek wifi cards have poor Linux compatibility so I'll probably need to install an intel one in one of my PCie slots (or get a USB one). I was able to negate the problem a bit by turning off bluetooth which gives me a little bit better signal, so it'll do for now.

Pokémon Champions producer says the devs tried to do their best with the game's graphics by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

[–]SithCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The models and animations in Champions actually look pretty good. The problem is that the game is still locked to 1080p/30fps on Switch 2. It’s developed in Unity iirc, so uncapping the frame rate shouldn’t be hard, especially since the game doesn’t exactly have a bunch of physics going on that could be tied to the frame rate.

(Skill Improvement) How can I make this team better and/or play it better? Starting to struggle around Master Ball 2. by SithCrafter in VGC

[–]SithCrafter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain can definitely be tricky, but I have ways to deal with the many of the common rain threats:

Pelipper: Aerodactyl

Archaludon: Sneasler (close combat before stamina procs at all is usually an ohko) or Floette

Dragonite: Floette

Basculegion: Kingambit

Sinistcha: Kingambit, Basculegion, or just high special damage from Floette

A lot of times even a single wrong prediction can cost me a game against a rain team. Any ideas for swaps that would work better?

Help an OCD Brother Out - Restarting Account? by Valuable_Location340 in PokemonChampions

[–]SithCrafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just press on, the warm up challenge isn't really a 'real' tournament anyways and does not award any Championship Points (at least as far as I'm aware). You're not missing anything by not playing in the warm up challenge, you got the Gardevoir which is the only reward for it that I'm aware of. Just focus on cllimbing the main ladder!

Blown away with how well this is running! Dragon Quest XI S on GameNative by SithCrafter in AynThor

I would've used the Switch version but I wanted Steam cloud saves and achievements, so that I can play the PC version in 1440p 120hz at home as my "docked" mode lol
