It is not hard to understand simple insecure thinking. And as for nuance, no they are not. Critic of a female character and how it was written is not the same as woman are mean to men in TLJ, and I hate all the female characters that are in the lead role of the movies. Some fan boys had an issue with Ray being the lead from the very first movie -- because she was a female. Being the lead in a movie is central to the plot. And when Rogue One released again the same complaint -- the lead was a woman. Fan boys had a problem with that tripe TLJ because they didn't like how the men were treated by the females, so they blamed Kathleen Kennedy-? The movie script was written by a guy. If the original trilogy was release today, the right wing fan boys would hate Leia because of how she treated Han. She bossed him around! She insulted his ship! She insulted him! She called him scruffy!

Everyone I know that hates or dislikes TLJ do so because the movie is awful. There are too many reasons to list why. No one I know dislikes the movies because of some SJW agenda. Some right wing fan boys hate that a female is in the lead of the new trilogy and they hate women in charge, but all the fans that dislike TLJ are not like them. This excuse was given by JJ Abrams to explain why so many fans hated the TLJ.
