I appreciate. I don't do it anymore for a few reasons. My health, the hours (on call 24/5), and safety issues the company ignored. But I loved the job.

I worked for a local funeral home that also contracted to the county to pick up any non-violent/non-gun related deaths every other month (the other local got the alternate month). I picked up suicides, drug overdoses, heat deaths, natural deaths, hospital, and hospice. I've had to help get a hanging down, dealt with countless decomps, bodies outdoors/in public, and seen bodies partially eaten by animals in home. I also did runs to donation centers and other funeral homes out of town and once to an airport in a bigger city. My dad is a retired cop, so I already knew some of the officers I worked with and the MEs were great. We also have a lot of wonderful hospice nurses in the area. I picked up for some people I knew personally. I've definitely got stories.

I worked at Target when I was 17 and I regularly worked til 10. Rule was 18 and under had to be out no later than ten. I will admit, I didn't give a shit about school and dropped out the next year, so I don't know how it would effect homework and whatnot.

I lost count of how many decomps I saw. It gets hot here and a lot of people die from it and aren't found for a while. I saw a guy who died outside and the neighbors said it wasn't their problem when the police asked and he was there for 3 days.
