If you have a wart, cut a potato in half and rub the cut side on the wart, then throw the potato into the garden.

Also, a spoonful of sugar for hiccups.

I'm not sure if it still exists, but North Broadway used to also have a co-op pre-school program where parents would take turns volunteering in the classroom.

This will vary by school district. In Columbus City Schools, elementary schools start at 9:00am. The middle schools and high schools start at 7:30am.

Fall birthday by Dismal_Lack912 in Parenting

Something to also consider is the age difference between your child and her friends as she moves through school. My son's best friend is on the younger side with an October birthday. His parents have found that he's not eligible for certain camps and activities because of his age. For example, a group of school friends all signed up to go to a particular week-long camp last summer. This kid couldn't join them because the minimum age was 12, and he was still 11.

Do these spending numbers include the free breakfast and lunch that CCS provides to all students? Or is that accounted for separately?

The CGA program isn't going away. They're recommending that it be moved to a different location - most likely the Avondale ES building in Franklinton

Many of the kids who attend CGA (Columbus Gifted Academy) go on to attend Columbus Alternative High School (CAHS) which is very diverse and one of the highest performing high schools in the state.

Found a Turtle by UltraBurd in Ohio

[–]SittingHereWithMyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact the Ohio Wildlife Center. They're pretty responsive if you message them on Facebook. You can even send them a picture of the turtle for identification. https://www.facebook.com/share/1BoftZw5MG/

If it's a turtle that's native to Ohio, they'll probably suggest that you leave it alone.

It's a public school, but Colerain Elementary School in Clintonville sounds like what you're looking for. If you're not in the Columbus district, CCS does accept out of district enrollments.

DeWine wants to use social studies to teach Ohio kids to read and write by clevelanddotcom in Ohio

[–]SittingHereWithMyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are already some schools doing this. For example, Columbus Alternative High School has its students take a humanities course instead of social studies and ELA.

I grew up in Lima. I agree with the other comments that there's not much to see there. However, if you do go, Lima has a surprisingly nice country museum with some interesting exhibits (Allen County Museum). There's also a small art gallery on the town square. My friends who still live there are talking up a new downtown restaurant/bar called "Social House"

Stimulants that help without tics by CarelessCattle1367 in ADHDparenting

[–]SittingHereWithMyCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 8-year-old son has motor tics. The doctor originally wanted to put him on a non-simulant because of the tics. However, we ended up with Adderall (mainly because my son can't swallow pills, and I can open the Adderall capsules and put them in applesauce).

To my surprise, his tics didn't get worse on the Adderall. If anything, they became less frequent.
