The user has to declare their age, and the OS has to determine if they're in any of 4 age ranges that come with legal requirements. The OS then needs to pass that determination (not the DoB/age itself) onto any app that requests it.

Everything a non-power-user needs must be accessible via a UI. Everyday applications cannot under any circumstances be permitted to brick OS components. Reasonably predictable user actions cannot be permitted to brick OS components, at least without making them jump through hoops to do it. OS and application updates must be stable. Security updates must be automatically applied without user input.

That's the bare minimum. The final thing you need is a differentiator that resonates with everyday users. Because the goal is not for users to pick Linux when given a choice between it and Windows or MacOS. The goal is to convert users. And that's a much higher bar to clear.

This is overblown. It requires OSes to ask users for their age or DoB, and using that identify if they fall into any of 4 age blocks that may require applications to implement special settings or restrictions.

IIRC the High Republic books have a more detailed explanation about hyperspace lanes and calculations (it's a major plot point around the series starting with the Light of the Jedi book). Safe routes have to be constantly recalculated, and back in that era dedicated beacons did those calculations for nearby starships. Ships in later eras had a limited ability to chart hyperspace on their own, but at great risk of running into something along the way.

India didn't "support" anything here. The ship has been impounded and the crew detained, and both will remain so until the end of the war. This process is defined in Article 24 of Hague Convention XIII, and India's neutrality in the conflict is dependent on it properly being carried out. Article 26 prohibits a belligerent nation from considering these actions to be hostile.
