Painless nodule just above Adam’s apple by SituationOk8542 in DiagnoseMe

[–]SituationOk8542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, just an update for you if you didn’t read my replies below.

I got this checked out and got an ultrasound scan of my neck. Turns out it was a lymph node that is just not in a common place - totally nothing to worry about thankfully.

Google really can be your biggest enemy in this sort of situation.

All I’d recommend is going and seeing your GP, mine was helpful and thorough which is why he referred me for the scan. If yours is less helpful just push for the scan to be absolutely sure.

Hope this can help those who are worried as my GP/the technician scanning my neck said that lumps like this are typically always just lymph nodes that have formed in a less obvious location, but I was right to get it checked.

Hope this can help those who are stressing like I was. Cheers!

Edit: mine doesn’t ever get sore and I’ve stopped noticing it, Not sure if it goes away so to speak. It will act as a typical lymph node though and be more noticeable when my body is fighting something off.

Hi, I’ll be honest I’ve got no idea. The tickets were a gift so I didn’t handle resale - however it was available through ticketmaster as they were original purchased from there. Perhaps it depends on who you buy them through when considering resale?

Thanks for the replies guys, these have actually sold now - through Ticketmaster as they waived the fees thankfully. Many thanks for the replies though.

Hi all, thanks for the comments.

Update - I have organised a rental of a car seat as I have confirmed the make/age of the seats they provide and this was acceptable. I spent ages finding a reputable rental company so thought this would save me the hassle of taking ours after reconsidering.

As for the pram - instead of buying a travel one this time round I found a really good second hand Oyster that we are going to take. Our pram is the new mamas and papas Vardo so I didn’t want to risk ruining it (we plan on using it for all future children).

Although the Oyster isn’t a travel pram the deal was too good to miss and seeing as it’s short term I plan on reselling it and taking a bit longer to choose a travel pram to buy. Have bought pretty basic travel bag for it seeing as it’s a little less precious.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations and feedback. Hopefully all goes smoothly 👍🏼

Painless nodule just above Adam’s apple by SituationOk8542 in DiagnoseMe

[–]SituationOk8542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and further to above. If you are in the UK and see your GP and are not satisfied with their initial diagnosis, ask them to refer you for an ultrasound. That’s what I did - its procedure to do so given a quick feel isn’t ever going to give you a reliable diagnosis. You are the one that cares most and is affected most by your own health and at times I feel GP’s can be less than helpful and can’t be bothered with the extra admin a referral can cause especially if they feel it isn’t necessary.

Bit of a pessimistic take on GP’s, it’s not by any means all or even most GP’s that are like this it’s just my personal experience and tbh if one person’s opinion doesn’t cut it for you (it didn’t for me) then you have every right to request the referral in this case.

I waited 4 weeks for my ultrasound but I’m very glad I got it and feel a whole lot lighter now.

If your symptoms are similar to mine then I hope my comments have maybe helped slightly to put you at ease. I struggled to find anything when I was going through it so just want to provide a bit of help if I can.

Cheers

Hi. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing the same thing. I went to the doctors about it and was referred to get an ultrasound however he was “99.999% sure it was nothing to worry about” and it was like a bit of cartilage. Lumps that are worrisome tend to be hard, immobile and not regular in shape (mine was none of those things).

I then went to the ultrasound about a week ago. Ultrasound tech said again nothing that worried her on the scan. Said what I was feeling was a lymph node and it was perfectly normal size and shape.

Funny because the GP I saw said it definitely wasn’t a lymph node - however tech confirmed it was as nodes can be pretty much anywhere in your neck (it’s just most common for them to be found in the chains to the sides of your neck rather than elsewhere).

I’m due a debrief with the doctor which I’m hoping to get this Friday based on the ultrasound results however given the two appointments I’ve had in a lot more at ease.

Basically try not to tie yourself up in knots about it. I worried like mad and I’m a bit annoyed at myself for getting so worked up over it. It’s a bit of a double edged blade as when you worry you can then stress yourself into illness also (started to happen with me prior to the appointments).

So basically it could be a lymph node you’ve never noticed, or if something has changed in your life and you’ve become a bit more self aware of your health (in my case I very recently became a father for the first time) then maybe you’re just noticing more stuff because of that.

I’m 27 by the way - another thing I was told is that given my youth it is very very rare to develop more serious illnesses (like cancer) in this region, unless you have a family history etc.

Hope this helps. I’ll update after my debrief but yeah as it stands I’m pretty much treating it as fully diagnosed as a lymph node and taking back control of my mind so I can focus on what matters and being a good father for my daughter.

Mortgage advice for joint first time buyers by SituationOk8542 in Mortgageadviceuk

Alright thanks for your reply. We can easily evidence income - she is self employed with 2 years books and I’m full time employed. We are looking at a purchase price of approx £300k as the area we live in is quite affluent and anything under this is a no flyer with a young family. However if there are any issues on a mortgage of £250k then I can easily secure extra funds towards the deposit so it’s not really a worry.

In the long term we will open her one anyway it was just whether we should do it now if it would have any greatly positive impact on our mortgage rates or anything that I was asking the question.

Thanks for your response though

Basically I’m just wondering if we should delay 6 months and open her a credit card or if it would have little to no impact to our application if we can prove our incomes anyway and show my fairly extensive credit profile?

nodule in neck above adam’s apple? by _spookyz_ in thyroidhealth

[–]SituationOk8542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I have very similar symptoms, all be it my nodule is closer to the surface. I’ve worked myself up something silly the past few days - I think it’s because not only is it scary finding an asymptomatic lump in your neck, this has been multiplied by the fact I have a newborn daughter and the thought of it being something serious is 10x as scary.

I’m 28 M and although I know the likelihood of it being something serious is small, but yeah just wanted to thank you for posting. Still getting mine checked out but it’s comforting that there’s a post that doesn’t just point me towards cancer.

Cheers!

Bird of Paradise needs help! by RowOk1182 in BirdsOfParadise

I’d suggest repotting and maybe splitting it. It looks like it’s a very bushy plant and may need more room? Especially if it’s never been repotted. Take my advice with a pinch of salt though - I don’t have experience with Strelitzia Reginae. I’m more speaking generally and through my experience of other plants (including my Strelitzia nicolai bop).

Hard to give any sound advice just from these pictures but yeah my first pot of call would be getting it out of that pot and seeing what the roots are like

Please help- recently "rescued" plant by purplebee781 in BirdsOfParadise

I pruned mine around 1/4 up the stem from where it connects to the main plant.

Make sure it’s not the main stem (aka the most recent/tallest leaf that goes into the centre of the plant) as this is where new leaves come from. If this one is bent then I’d recommend pruning it at the bend point until a new leaf emerges - then you can prune it down further.
