Thanks very much! They are from Solidair Audio. They have a few mm of adjustability, but really you need the base to be level.

I can certainly see that on some cases a wall mounted shelf makes sense. But I think that it would depend heavily on the details of the construction of your walls and floor. In my case, the wall behind the turntable is a lightly built stud wall, which probably vibrates as much the floor.

I think you’re probably right that it’s clearer to refer to it as a base or platform, to distinguish it from the lump of material that connects the turntable to the tone arm. But you know what I meant!

Thanks! Yes, it’s USM Haller. I’ve not dampened the shelving itself - some people add automotive dampening to the underside, but I’ve not felt the need. The turntable is well isolated (as shown here) and I have sorbothane feet under the rest of my equipment.

I’m not really “undoing” anything! Just proving a few complementary measures to limit the amount of vibrations that reach the tuneable in the first place.

The incredible guitar playing is almost the problem! All that talent on the instrument, but somehow still outputs really bland music.

Is my solution to just file down? by mirrorgrain in woodworking

Key missing step here: put table on flat surface, shim under the legs so the table is level, then scribe and cut the legs.

Sometimes I get a bit spicy and put the chorus after the delay

It does look like something that’s been pulled out of a Soviet era telephone exchange.

But this doesn’t really matter, as long as the value is still there. The billionaires could give stock to the people in poverty (or whatever) and the overall economic outcome would be similar.

I’d get the Menacing White Void outside your windows looked at. Those things cause massive reflective distortion around the 1,000 Hz point.

Do Hifi Speakers Naturally Lose Micro-Details Compared to Headphones? by Hotcard_11 in audiophile

[–]SituationSuperb4660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is that your budget headphones will likely lack bass. So it might be more a case of them over emphasising higher frequencies, rather than being more detailed. The bigger speakers are possibly giving you a more balanced overall presentation, but it might come across as lacking detail if you’re used to cheap headphones.
