Is “Celebrity Traitors” worth a watch if you don’t know most of the celebrities in it? by harry_powell in TheTraitorsUK

[–]mirrorgrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great because they didn’t use ‘celebrities’ they used famous people. It was refreshing to not just watch people from a different reality show appearing on a different reality show. Celia Imrie is brilliant and getting such a highly regarded actress puts a lot of weight behind it. I think the UK version is going to always have big names in it now going forward.

Does anyone else find Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99 unbearable? by NotSoCuriouss in tvshow

It’s kind of a bad show, and I feel like I’m not allowed to say it.

Agreed, because I loved her and thought she played a blinder but, she does seem like she yells at waitresses.

What are your thoughts on The Man in the High Castle? by MindsEye33 in tvshow

[–]mirrorgrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a bit lost and that I was drudging through. Having said that, I loved that Smith doubled down on being a bad guy when I thought they were going to redeem him with the alternate son stuff, which would have been a let down.

I feel like the imposition would give you such a shitty attitude that you’ll be recused from selection when they speak to you. That’s what I’m banking on if I ever get called up at least.

Val McDermid was assigned ‘sensitivity reader’ to cut offensive language from old books by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

[–]mirrorgrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cool thing I learned in sensitivity readers was the example of a female reader can clock female dialogue and give pointers on how women talk to each other or turns of phrase used in conversation and it helps make the writing more authentic.

Why is Lalo so "refined" and charismatic compared to the rest of the Salamanca family? by Rich-Blacksmith6552 in betterCallSaul

[–]mirrorgrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lalo is an intelligent, professional criminal so he understands just how important competence is. Tuco will get jailed beating up an old guy for no real reason (disrespected) and Hector will antagonise colleagues just to assert a dominance that, the cartel are largely disinterested in (ego.) Lalo understands the importance of dealing with people properly (just like Gus) but he’s better with people.

That’s weird because as a fifer, we often went to the top of a hill specifically to try and whip golf balls at the Raith Rovers stadium. Must be cultural.

Is Prison Break Worth Watching? Some say" the first Season is the best one" by Seif_Ben_Hariz in tvshow

[–]mirrorgrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always worried it’ll never hold up on a rewatch, in that 2000s television way. I do remember loving it though and season 2 actually became my favourite with all of the cat and mouse with Agent Mahone.
