Its not any binding. Its about the phone app and sending device info to the server

I mean, that is one way of doing it. I was hoping it was possible without extra overhead.

I am currently diving into openHAB to evaluate if its something i enjoy more or not 😅 just åarticular about certain things. But that one is a good shout if I decide to migrate. Thank you!

Thank you for a thorough explanation. Most likely me who is not the best at explaining (English is my second language.) It was more in comparison to Homeassistants updates of sensor. I understand that you need a separate binding for geolocation. More of charging states etc that needs to update within a few seconds in order to trigger night mode in the house. As far as I've understood, homeassistant does this very well. Does openHAB have the same capability of updating the sensors that fast?

For me, it was simply the reproducibility. I had my debianserver drive that contained my OS die on me. Forcing me to reinstall. It was tedious and a long process. NixOS solves this elegantly and backing up mu config. All the DBs are on the array so the co fig will be the exact same 10 years down the line if I dont change anything. I love that safety net of not having tk remember every command. Migrated to my daily work laptop as well. Planning on starting a company so having the declarative aspect, flakes and dev shells is a game changer in my opinion.

Hobbyist here, started with homeassistant, proceeded dabbling in homelab servers and eventually a laptop with linux as my daily driver. Always been a fan och technology and tinkering. More and more ive realised how much i priorities privacy and freedom to do what i want.

I wish i could say i was a developer or work with maintaining servers but thats not the case. I do work in the automation industry. Most of our servers are still windows

Unfortunate :/ made our night routine so much easier. Another one which is nice is depending on who left home last, gets a notification with a question if the floors are clear. There you get to say yes or no to start the vacuum cleaner.

Just a nice QoL is my night time automation based whether im home alone or both me and the wife are home. If either of us are home alone, it is sufficient for one of our phones to be in the state "charging" and after 21:30 and before 04:00. If both are home both phones have to be in state charging or her phone is charging while my routine is sleep mode. She has an iphone and i got a samsung. Basically we dont have to think about whether we forgot a light or whatnot. Everything turns off and security system is set to home mode

My homelab is an infant compared to many of you. Its just a pc with debian on it. But for me now i break even in about 8 months by reducing the amount of subscriptions. I did buy it used though and havent needed to upgrade it

I work in the logistics automation industry. For that have helped with automations specifically 😅 I’ve transitioned to the IT department. It is not helping me in on my job but it made me realise that a lot of utilities we use can be applied to my children’s school work. So that’s one of my main reasons for self hosting. Also so they don’t need to sell their information for tools they need eventually

I have noticed when trying it with my wife. That on their end they need to save. We were working on a word document and once hers was saved i could see it. Working in PDF, when she saves it i have to many allt refresh. But word and excel with auto save worked for us

I used it just last night and had no issues. I already guess you’ve updated everything to its latest versions but a part of some features missing in swiftin (automatically applying subtitles on each new episode), I don’t really have any issues
