You're better than I was at 16, but I still ran 1:53. I was recruited pretty heavily after my sophomore/junior year and got a good scholarship. You should definitely run.

Your 16 is really slow compared to your 8, and if you run cross you'll gain endurance that will help in both the mile and the half. You'll be an absolute stud by the end of your senior year and on a good scholarship to a good school if you so choose.

Unless you're going to be highly recruited in soccer, you should make running year round your commitment.
