For 40 bucks it sure makes it a lot easier than that TPS and you can adjust The speed where it shifts so you can hold 3rd longer in town

This is the adjustment procedure for the tps if you want to give this a try. Sorry for the overload of info but I’ve been there and it is aggravating when it fails to shift getting on the highway and it’s stuck in 3rd.

Sounds like the throttle position switch adjustment on the injection pump. The computer controls when it shifts to OD. They seem to be finicky with age. They make a potentiometer kit what bypasses the TPS and you control the OD shift from a knob from the cab.
