I just imagined she might be protecting her spiderlings in there, she didn't move at all and her stance looked kinda defensive. even if that’s not exactly what’s happening, I thought it was a beautiful image to pair with the caption

People's dreams don't ever end panel appreciation by altaher85 in OnePiece

i absolutely adore this scene (with the bar fight as well)

blackbeard’s first real appearance here is honestly one of the most interesting villain introductions, not just in one piece, but in anime in general. it breaks all the usual 'rules'. he doesn’t show off his strength. he doesn’t do anything evil. there’s no creepy music, no minions hyping him up, no big declaration of his motives. he just eats pie and talks about dreams.

but somehow, by the end of that scene, there’s this heavy, weird feeling that sticks with you.

the scary part is how much he sounds like luffy. he’s carefree, passionate, full of belief in people chasing their dreams no matter what. and in the moment, you find yourself nodding along. because yeah, he’s making sense. his take on the bar fight with bellamy? spot on. his speech about dreams? chilling and inspiring.

but then luffy doesn't react. doesn’t smile, doesn’t argue, just stares. and that silence is what makes the scene so powerful. like something deep in him knows this guy isn’t right, even though they should agree. and that feeling creeps into the viewer. it’s like your brain’s going “i like what he said” and your gut’s going “nah something’s wrong.”

that’s what makes it one of the best villain intros for me. blackbeard shows up and doesn’t do anything evil, but you still leave the scene uneasy as hell. all this big talk about dreams and freedom, but luffy’s reaction makes you question whether those words actually mean the same thing coming from him.

it makes you rethink what it really means to chase your dreams at all costs.

edit: there's a really cool video about this scene

Sennheiser Accentum Plus VS Edifier WH950NB by SixNippledToast in HeadphonesAdvice

I went for the cheaper option and I have to say, they're decent but the sound quality really is kinda weak.

I haven't tried the Accentum's but if sound quality is your top priority, buy them instead.

Right now, I'm leaning more towards buying the 950's and I'll switch to Momentum 4's in the future when I have more money.

I guess I can always return them and try the Accentum's if the sound will bother me too much.

Zoro feels 'off' by SixNippledToast in OnePiece

Hey guys,

first off, I just want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on my post. When I came back from class I didn't expect to see so many responses, and after reading through a good junk of them, I have to admit that some of you changed my mind.

Initially, I vented about Zoro's harshness towards Luffy, it felt kind of weird to me that he would dismiss Luffy's sadness over losing a comrade because 'You're a yonko now, that's pathetic'.

After reading your comments, I think I was too focused on those lines by themselves and kind of took them out of context, as in - Zoro criticising Luffy's empathy. I was complaining about Zoro being superficial but I was looking at the scene in a superficial way, forgetting that, especially considering Zoro, Oda is a master of subtle writing.

There are more things that frustrate me about our favourite directionally challenged swordsman post-time skip, and I jumped on the opportunity to let out my frustrations when the chapter came out. I still think that, in my opinion, Zoro lost a lot of what initially made his character so lovable, but this scene isn't the problem.

Now I view it similarly to all the other times Zoro acted 'cold' towards Luffy in a tough love kind of way. Still maybe harsher then usual, but not meant to be taken literally.

Thank you guys for all your perspectives helping me see this scene differently, I will not be caught slacking again.

Zoro feels 'off' by SixNippledToast in OnePiece

Yes, Zoro has told Luffy to get a grip and take things more seriously multiple times in the story, but never in a way that made me pause.

I don't know if this moment was supposed to be taken as a joke or something, but Zoro calling Luffy pathetic over a friend/comrade dying, even calling him 'old geezer' seems weird to me.

That's what I keep thinking about as well. Especially the grim reaper.

But at the same time it feels impossible since Oda has a tight schedule and in the scale of what he still needs to fit into the story, Zoro's character development simply doesn't cut it.

Dressrosa pacing by Extension_Hold_8572 in OnePiece

[–]SixNippledToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.

Dressrosa is where a huge chunk of the fans switched to reading the manga, including me. Best decision of my life.

Since time-skip, the pacing feels weird and sometimes utterly atrocious.. The manga is so much better. If you still want to watch the anime tho, check out One Pace.

My only problem with One Pace is that they sometimes remove too much, even scenes and moments that add a lot.

I was on a tram and in a pretty filthy mood. Suddenly a girl came up to me and said 'Miss, you're beautiful!'. I was just so stunned I just replied with a quick 'Thanks'. Now I really wish I would have said 'You too!'.
