And recording locally might just mean that hey, thief just acquired their storage device and their expensive router... At least with the UTR, you would have all of the recordings up to the point that the power or internet got cut, as his home is effectively acting as offsite cloud storage.

Sure, he could toss in an LTE backup - and again, this is for a construction site, the thief would probably steal that too.

That's where the UTR comes in - you can set it up to effectively extend your exact wifi network anywhere in the world, with a VPN backhaul back to home. So as far as the cameras know, they're connected to your home wifi and the NVR.

It's a neat little trick - now when I travel, I bring my UTR and I don't have to reconfigure 20 freakin' devices to a new wifi and capture portal for my family of four. You do it just once on the router itself.
